ASUS launches Googlebook 14 in Australia for Gemini

ASUS has launched the Googlebook 14 in Australia, the first ASUS model designed for Gemini Intelligence.
The laptop will go on sale through JB Hi-Fi in two configurations priced at AUD $2,799 and AUD $2,999.
ASUS is positioning the 14-inch device as a lightweight model for users working across home, office and mobile settings. It weighs 0.99kg and measures 10.9mm thick, with a magnesium-aluminium chassis finished in what ASUS calls Nano Ceramic.
ASUS says the finish is designed to resist scratches, stains and abrasion. The laptop has also been tested to MIL-STD 810H standards, as well as ASUS's own durability tests for day-to-day travel and use.
Inside, the Googlebook 14 is available with either an Intel Core Ultra 5 Series 3 or Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 3 processor, 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 512GB solid-state drive. It also includes a 70Wh battery, with up to 18 hours of battery life based on local full-HD video playback.
The new model centres on Google software and services, including Gemini tools and Android integration. Buyers will also receive 12 months of Google AI Pro, which includes access to Gemini features, related Google apps and 5TB of cloud storage.
Several of the software functions ASUS highlighted are tied to on-screen assistance. These include Magic Pointer, which lets users select objects on screen to make requests through Gemini, and proactive suggestions based on what is visible on the display.
Android phone links are another part of the launch. With supported devices, users can start tasks on a phone and continue them on the laptop, or cast phone apps to the computer screen.
Premium segment
The launch gives ASUS a new entry in the higher end of the local laptop market, where hardware makers have been adding artificial intelligence features, phone connectivity and thinner designs as points of difference. It also marks a deeper tie-up with Google in Australia.
Bradley Howe, Head of Consumer at ASUS Australia, described the release as a fresh option for local buyers.
"Deepening our global partnership with Google means we can give Australians a distinctively new option in the premium laptop market. We are incredibly proud to be among the first to introduce Googlebook locally," said Bradley Howe, Head of Consumer at ASUS Australia.
He said the device combines Google software with ASUS hardware features, including its OLED display and industrial design.
"This device represents the ideal balance of software and hardware. It takes the intelligence of Google's platform and pairs it with the innovation ASUS is known for, particularly our OLED display technology and premium design. It's a laptop built for people who want their technology to work together without friction," Howe said.
Display and ports
The laptop has a 14-inch 3K OLED HDR touchscreen with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate. Peak HDR brightness reaches 1000 nits, while Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and an anti-glare layer are intended to improve durability and reduce reflections.
Audio features include a six-speaker system with dual woofers and two tweeters. The laptop also has a haptic touchpad with six-point force sensing and a backlit keyboard with 1.5mm key travel.
The Googlebook 14 includes two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4 support, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 port and a 3.5mm audio combo jack.
Wireless support includes Wi-Fi 7, which ASUS says is intended to help users move between local tasks and cloud-based work. The laptop will be available in a single Dusk Ash colour.
The higher-priced Australian model includes an Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 3 355 processor, while the lower-priced version uses an Intel Core Ultra 5 Series 3 325 processor. Both have the same memory, storage and 14-inch 3K OLED 120Hz touchscreen.
