Wed, 22nd Oct 2025

Dell Technologies has introduced new Dell Pro Essential laptops and desktops designed for small and medium businesses in Australia.

Laptops for SMB requirements

The Dell Pro 14 Essential and Dell Pro 15 Essential laptops have been developed to meet the specific requirements of small and medium businesses (SMBs) in Australia, with a focus on reliability, durability, and affordability. These devices are intended to assist distributors and partners in offering tailored solutions across various industries and business segments.

The laptops include features that simplify IT management, such as integrated security and manageability tools. They utilise cloud-based fleet management and application publishing through the Dell Management Portal. Security is reinforced with hardware-level encryption, fingerprint readers, and lock slots. The devices have also undergone military-grade testing for day-to-day dependability.

Performance and usability

The Dell Pro Essential line aims to suit users requiring flexibility and mobility, combining a compact form factor with ample display size and a numeric keypad. They are positioned for everyday computing tasks, office productivity, and multitasking, reflecting the demands of a modern SMB environment.

The laptops feature up to a 2.5K resolution display and a 16:10 aspect ratio, designed to improve presentations, document work, and video conferencing. To support remote and hybrid work, both models include integrated HD webcams and digital microphones for clear and natural video communication.

IT management and security

Dell highlights several features related to IT security and ease of use. Key features include:

  • Hardware TPM 2.0 for secure encryption at the hardware level
  • Optional fingerprint reader for biometric authentication
  • Privacy shutter for camera protection
  • Lock slot for device security
  • Dell Management Portal integrated with Microsoft Intune
  • Excalibur OS Recovery support for restoring systems
  • Microsoft Autopilot for zero-touch deployment

These capabilities are targeted at allowing IT teams to deploy and secure devices efficiently, aiming to keep end users protected and productive.

Sustainability focus

Dell has incorporated several design features in their new laptops to support sustainability goals. Both models use recycled and low-emission materials: the Pro 14 Essential is built with recycled aluminium and steel, and has earned EPEAT Silver Climate+ and ENERGY STAR certifications. The Pro 15 Essential's construction includes up to 30% post-consumer recycled plastic in the palmrest and 50% in the bottom cover. Both devices have undergone MIL-STD 810H testing for durability and are shipped in fully recyclable packaging. Programmes are also in place for secure device take-back and responsible retirement.

Desktops for businesses

The Dell Pro Slim Essential and Dell Pro Tower Essential desktops form part of the same range, also targeting small and medium business requirements. These PCs are configured for everyday professional workloads and offer performance, connectivity, and upgrade options suitable for growing businesses. Security features are consistent with the laptop range, including built-in TPM 2.0 and lock slots for physical security.

Business productivity

The desktops come equipped with 14th Gen Intel Core processors, high-speed DDR5 4800MT/s memory, and three PCIe slots for customisation. Storage can be expanded to 2TB SSD and 2TB HDD. For connectivity, businesses can operate up to four FHD monitors via DisplayPort with daisy chaining, or two 4K displays using HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort. There are a total of eight USB ports, with four front-facing, and optional SD card reading capability. Wireless connectivity is offered up to Wi-Fi 6/6E, dependent on hardware and regional availability.

Security and manageability for IT teams

Streamlined manageability features are available through the Dell Management Portal and Microsoft Autopilot, supporting cloud-based fleet management and simplified deployment. Warranties are available for up to five years, providing additional support for SMB customers.

Sustainability in desktop design

The new desktop models are ENERGY STAR certified and registered EPEAT Silver with Climate+, reflecting the company's continuing focus on energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
