LG debuts Smart Inverter Dehumidifiers in Australia & New Zealand

Mon, 14th Jul 2025

LG Electronics has expanded its home appliance portfolio in Australia and New Zealand with the launch of its Smart Inverter Dehumidifier range.

The company's new line-up includes two models, the 24L (DD12GMWE0) and 26L (DD14GMWE0), both of which are equipped with LG's Smart Inverter Compressor technology and the Smart+ Mode feature. According to LG, these products are designed to address the challenges of fluctuating indoor humidity while promoting energy efficiency and user convenience.

Hun Oh, Product Director of HVAC Solutions at LG Electronics ANZ, highlighted the rationale behind the products' introduction into the market, stating:

"At LG, our mission is to empower a better life through smart, intuitive solutions. We're excited to bring our range of advanced Smart Inverter Dehumidifiers to Australia and New Zealand, designed to redefine home comfort and hygiene. We understand that a truly comfortable home environment, powered by intelligent technology, is important to enriching daily life and fostering the good life our customers deserve. These dehumidifiers harness innovative LG technology, including our Smart Inverter, to address the evolving needs of our customers, improving air quality and delivering efficient operation. For Australians and Kiwis, this means a cost-effective solution that not only creates a balanced home environment but also fosters joyful experiences, allowing them to rest, work, and play more comfortably and with greater peace of mind."

Smart inverter features

The cornerstone of the new range is the Smart Inverter Compressor, which LG says provides both strong dehumidification capabilities and quieter performance. The compressor comes with a 10-year parts warranty, according to the company, with a two-year warranty for parts and labour on the product and an additional eight years parts warranty on the compressor.

The Smart+ Mode function is designed to automatically regulate compressor speed and fan intensity based on the changing humidity in the environment. This approach allows the dehumidifier to operate only as necessary to achieve and sustain the targeted humidity, which can help users manage energy consumption more effectively.

App integration

Both models are compatible with the LG ThinQ app. This connectivity enables users to monitor and adjust settings remotely, track energy usage, and receive notifications when the 5.0-litre water tank is full. LG highlighted that the ThinQ app compatibility is available for both Android and iOS smartphones, provided they have a Wi-Fi connection and the product is registered with the app.

Design and user experience

LG's Smart Inverter Dehumidifiers place a strong emphasis on usability and integration into the home environment. Features include a hidden handle, easy-roll casters, cord storage, and a removable water tank with an auto shut-off function designed to prevent spills.

The 24L and 26L models have also been recognised in the 2024 Red Dot Design Awards for their appearance, which is intended to complement a variety of interior designs. The dehumidifiers operate at a noise level as low as 31.94 dB in Silent Mode, an attribute designed for use in bedrooms or home offices, where minimal disturbance is required.

Additional health and versatility features

LG states that the new models also feature UVnano technology, which is aimed at maintaining the hygiene of internal fan blades by reducing bacterial build-up. The models are supplied with a set of accessories, including a Y-hose for drying shoes and a T-hose for removing moisture from drawers and wardrobes. Customers have the option to purchase a HEPA filter kit separately for increased support for those sensitive to dust.

The compressor in both models is backed by a 10-year warranty, and the ThinQ app provides additional convenience by offering notifications related to water tank status and other operational alerts. The company clarified that the 24L and 26L capacities are based on internal testing at 30°C dry bulb / 27°C wet bulb and 80% relative humidity; actual performance may vary with usage and ambient conditions.

LG's entry into the dehumidifier market in Australia and New Zealand adds to its portfolio of household appliances and aims to offer consumers more options for managing air quality and comfort at home.
