LG & will.i.am unveil xboom audio range starting at AUD $229

LG Electronics Australia has launched three new portable audio products in partnership with musician and technology entrepreneur will.i.am.

The new products, the LG xboom Stage 301, LG xboom Bounce, and LG xboom Grab, aim to combine portability, durability, and advanced audio features tailored for a lifestyle focused on music at home and on the move.

Collaboration with will.i.am

The xboom by will.i.am range has been developed through a collaboration with the eight-time Grammy Award winner, who contributed to product development, design, and brand marketing in his role as Experiential Architect for xboom. The partnership brings a distinctive urban aesthetic and creative approach to the product line, which also incorporates will.i.am's AI audio platform, RAiDiO.FYI.

Distinct audio features

Each of the three new products features two audio modes: one focused on dynamic bass for energetic listening, and another designed for more mellow, calming tones. All products in the range come with RAiDiO.FYI integration, enabling real-time, two-way conversations through the use of curated, topic-based stations and supporting a more interactive approach to audio content.

LG xboom Stage 301

The xboom Stage 301 offers up to 12 hours of playtime per charge, with the option to swap in a replacement battery for extended use. The speaker includes a 6.5-inch woofer and 2.5-inch midranges, supplied by audio company Peerless, and features a carry handle for portability. Its design includes Smart AI Sound and AI Calibration capabilities to automatically adjust music output based on genre and surroundings. AI Lighting enhances playback with dynamic LED effects linked to audio, while the speaker's wedge design allows flexible positioning.

The device allows for the connection of microphones and instruments and is compatible with the LG ThinQ app, offering features like Karaoke Creator, DJ effects, and custom audio modes. Auracast support means multiple compatible speakers can be networked for group listening, and the Stage 301 is rated IPX4 for water resistance.

LG xboom Bounce

The xboom Bounce has dual dome tweeters and dual passive radiators, delivering stereo audio with rich bass and clarity. Peerless produces the audio components, and built-in microphones support hands-free calling. AI Sound and AI Calibration adjust playback according to content and environment, while AI Lighting provides nine selectable visual modes. The speaker meets seven US military-standard tests for durability and carries an IP67 water and dust resistance rating. Its battery offers up to 30 hours of playback, and the portable capsule-shaped unit comes with an integrated strap. The Bounce also supports Auracast and Apple Music integration through the LG ThinQ app.

LG xboom Grab

The xboom Grab is designed for compact portability and hands-free voice calling, with a high-quality dome tweeter by Peerless and manual or AI-driven audio modes. The unit's sound profile and interface were tuned in collaboration with will.i.am, with custom sound effects for various operations. It offers 20 hours of battery life and is equipped with a tube-shaped body and adjustable strap. AI Sound and Calibration technology adapts playback to the environment and content type. Apple Music and local playback are supported through the LG ThinQ app.

The xboom Stage 301 is priced at AUD $449, the xboom Bounce at AUD $299, and the xboom Grab at AUD $229. The range is available through LG and major Australian retailers.
