Samsung unveils AI-powered Galaxy Tab S11 series from AUD $1,399

Fri, 5th Sep 2025

Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S11, comprising its latest high-end tablet series incorporating extensive AI features, upgraded hardware, and new productivity tools.

The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra stands out as Samsung's slimmest tablet to date, measuring just 5.1 mm thick, while delivering a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with up to 1600 nits peak brightness. The standard Galaxy Tab S11, with an 11-inch display, also benefits from similar visual enhancements. Both models are designed for portability and long-term use, offering enhanced thermal management and battery life, with the Ultra featuring an 11,600 mAh capacity and the standard S11 equipped with an 8,400 mAh battery.

Design and hardware

The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra features a slim build at 692 g for the Wi-Fi variant and 695 g for the 5G model. Both tablets are powered by Samsung's latest 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ processor, promising faster processing, responsive AI integration, and improved multitasking. Storage options range up to 1 TB, with support for expansion via microSD up to 2 TB in both models.

The devices are available with 12GB or 16GB of memory, enabling heavier workflows and creative tasks. They also include quad speakers and are rated IP68 for dust and water resistance. For connectivity, the Ultra model supports Wi-Fi 7 and 5G, while the standard S11 supports Wi-Fi 6E and 5G.

Advanced AI integration

The series debuts with One UI 8, bringing enhanced AI features tailored for large-screen interfaces. Samsung has focused on multimodal AI, designed to understand user actions - what they type, say, or view - and respond in real time.

Gemini Live, a built-in capability, supports real-time screen sharing and visual input, enabling natural conversational interactions where the AI can interpret displayed content or answer contextual questions by analysing what the user shows via their device's camera. For users in a classroom, for instance, notes can be shared on screen while Gemini interprets charts or summarises materials.

AI features also enable streamlined actions across applications. For instance, users can share links and instruct Gemini to "Summarise this article and save it to Samsung Notes," facilitating productivity. Drawing Assist helps turn rough sketches into polished visuals, while Writing Assist offers support for refining tone and style for documents or messages.

The Circle to Search feature with Google adds contextual information to on-screen content, while automatic, real-time translation is supported for texts in news, social media, or other apps. A floating overlay keeps Galaxy AI features accessible during multitasking sessions. According to Samsung, "these tools unlock a more fluid way to work, create and stay in flow across any task."

Redesigned S Pen and productivity features

The S Pen has been redesigned for the Tab S11 series, now featuring a cone-shaped tip and a hexagonal barrel that aims to improve comfort and control for both writing and drawing. Quick Tools allow for rapid adjustment of pen settings with a floating menu, and Sticky Note makes it possible to jot down notes during document review without switching apps.

"With the latest Galaxy AI and new multimodal capabilities, these flagship tablets enable ultimate efficiency – empowering users to work, create and flow more naturally across a versatile, large screen," said Jay Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Office, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics.

"The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra combines AI innovation with refined hardware to deliver a true multitasking experience that reflects Samsung's deep experience in mobile productivity. With the latest Galaxy AI and new multimodal capabilities, these flagship tablets enable ultimate efficiency – empowering users to work, create and flow more naturally across a versatile, large screen," said Jay Kim.

Samsung DeX improvements

The Galaxy Tab S11 series introduces enhancements to Samsung DeX, including Extended Mode, which provides a true dual-screen setup when connected to an external monitor. Users can create up to four customisable workspaces geared towards different needs, such as work, creative projects, or travel planning. This flexibility aims to support a range of professional and personal workflows, and Book Cover Keyboard Slim compatibility enables quick transformation into a mobile workstation with a dedicated Galaxy AI Key.

Application support and offers

Both tablets come preloaded or offer easy access to a suite of creative and productivity apps, including Goodnotes, Clip Studio Paint, LumaFusion, Notion, Noteshelf 3, ArcSite, Sketchbook, and Picsart. Samsung is offering trial subscriptions and discounts for many of these apps, such as a one-year free version of Goodnotes, a six-month free trial for Clip Studio Paint plus a 20% first-time subscription discount, and a 66% discount on LumaFusion with a complimentary one-month Creator Pass.
