Vault Hunters, it’s time to let the skeletons out of the closet, equip some mean guns and get ready for a Spooktacular update to Borderlands 3.

Starting from October 24, Borderlands 3 - Bloody Harvest event adds fresh new content to the game that’s keeping plenty of keen players on their toes – and it’s all for free (though sadly it runs for a limited time, until December 5).

This year’s Bloody Harvest includes new ‘haunted’ enemies, new missions, the Terror combat mechanic, a new unique Legendary weapon, and a new boss fight against Captain Haunt, who 2K Games simply describes as ‘fearsome’.

All Vault Hunters who have made it past the opening stages and on to the Sanctuary III spaceship, should keep their eyes open for a character called Maurice.

Soon, Vault Hunters will find that their missions across the galaxy suddenly put them face to face with haunted enemies.

When Vault Hunters kill a haunted enemy, they will unleash a ghost – and a new game mechanic called Terror. With terror, your vision is obscured with mist and Vault Hunters’ guns suddenly become a lot less useful.

For all the blood, sweat and tears, Vault Hunters can also earn weapon skins, Vault Hunter skins, an Echo device skin, a weapon trinket, a grenade mod and a shield mod. There will also be new Anointed loot and plenty of chaos.

But wait, there’s more! This week 2K announced that Borderlands 2 will now work on a variety of PC-powered virtual reality headsets including the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Oculus Rift S through the Steam platform.

For NZ$79.95, Borderlands 2 VR on PC offers the same full-featured experience as the PlayStation VR version. The entire story has been optimised for VR with features like motion controls and the new Bad Ass Mega Fun Time (BAMF) mechanic.

“This series-first feature lets you temporarily slow down the action to dodge an attack or appreciate a particularly beautiful explosion,” explains 2K Games.

“Players can use this new slow-mo ability to literally slow the speed of the game temporarily to set up their next attack. In addition, with the option to Teleport, players can glide across Pandora as gracefully as Claptrap (if he had grace).”

In addition, the BAMF DLC Pack – available as a free add-on after players have purchased Borderlands 2 VR – adds 16 pieces of DLC content to the base experience.
