Back2U app brings mobile musculoskeletal care to Australians

Mon, 1st Dec 2025

An on-demand health app has launched across Australia, aiming to address issues of access and wait times for musculoskeletal care by connecting patients directly to accredited practitioners who travel to the patient's location.

Pain access issues

Australia reports more than 3.4 million people living with chronic or ongoing pain each year. Many of these patients face delays in receiving care due to long waitlists, geographical barriers, work demands, or clinic schedules that do not fit their needs.

The new app, named Back2U, enables patients to book appointments with chiropractors, physiotherapists, and osteopaths who are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Sessions can take place at home, work, hotels, or any other suitable location, with all logistical arrangements coordinated through the platform.

Practitioner flexibility

According to the developers, the platform addresses pressures not only for patients but for practitioners as well. Practitioners joining Back2U can schedule appointments flexibly, set their own hours, and work independently of clinic overheads or location-based constraints.

Dr Roman Rajek, Co-founder of Back2U, said the service aims to tackle some of the most common obstacles to accessing timely care:

"As a clinician, I see patients delay treatment because the logistics don't work such as time off, travel, waiting rooms. Back2U fixes that by matching patients with AHPRA-verified practitioners nearby, in minutes, with digital consent and secure records. The result is earlier intervention, fewer missed appointments and better continuity, exactly what improves outcomes for back and musculoskeletal pain."

The model extends the established concept of mobile health services, which already operates in areas such as home nursing, pathology and imaging, into allied health. While traditional clinics remain, Back2U positions itself as a solution that bridges the gap between telehealth and in-person appointments, offering face-to-face care where telehealth is impractical or insufficient.

Reducing barriers

For practitioners, the app promises a streamlined route to clients, eliminating the need for a leased clinic space or extensive administration. Features include digital records, secure consent processes, location-based appointment matching, and integrated payment processing.

Dr Stephen McCann, Founder of Edgecliff Chiropractic, joined the Back2U platform as an early practitioner.

"For practitioners who are just starting out or looking to expand, Back2U removes the barriers of overheads, scheduling headaches, and location limits. It gives you control, flexibility, and real earning potential from day one,"

Market potential

Australia sees an estimated 700,000 musculoskeletal appointments booked each week. However, patients frequently encounter rigid clinic opening hours, restricted practitioner availability, and delays in accessing hands-on care. Allied health professionals log more than 26.7 million attendances nationally each year, highlighting widespread demand and pressure on existing services.

The company states that Back2U supports practitioners seeking supplementary income streams, with lower running costs than traditional private practice. It describes its role as complementing, rather than displacing, current clinic services.

Dr Rajek said, "Every physio, chiro and osteo I speak to tells me the same things; they want more flexibility, more time for real patient care, and more ways to grow their practice. That's exactly why we built Back2U."

"Practitioners get more control and patients get relief sooner, it's a win-win," said Rajek.
