Cricut unveils new craft materials & exclusive Lavender bundle
Cricut has announced a new range of craft materials and the release of a limited-edition smart cutting machine bundle, available exclusively through select retailers.
Material range expansion
The newly introduced products in the material range include Cricut Puff Iron-On, Cricut Flocked Iron-On, and Cricut Smart Vinyl Matless Permanent Shimmer Vinyl (Rainbow). The Puff Iron-On is available in red, white, and black, while the Flocked Iron-On is offered in blue, black, and white, all retailing at RRP AUD $24.85. According to the company, the Puff Iron-On is designed to "add a raised dimensional effect" and is noted for being easy to weed and for its capacity to withstand multiple washes. The product can be used for application to T-shirts, sweatshirts, totes, and more, with optimal results achieved through Cricut heat press application.
The Flocked Iron-On is described by Cricut as a material that "adds a soft, velvety texture to projects" and can be used for similar applications, with the goal of imparting "dimension and a luxurious look and feel." The Smart Vinyl Matless Permanent Shimmer Vinyl in Rainbow offers users the chance to create "shimmery, long-lasting DIY personalised water bottles, banners, notebooks & more," according to Cricut. For this product, the company recommends handwashing to maintain long-term durability.
Retail exclusivity
The new materials are being made available exclusively through Harvey Norman. This partnership ensures the products reach Australian consumers through a single retailer, both in-store and online.
New machine bundle in Lavender
Cricut has also revealed the launch of its Joy Xtra in Lavender + Basics Bundle, which will be exclusively available at Spotlight stores and via their online platform, with a recommended retail price of AUD $550. The company positions this package as a "specially curated bundle that includes all the tools and materials needed for those who are looking to jump into the world of customisation right out of the box." The Joy Xtra machine, previously available in white, is now being released in Lavender, a colour the company says "evokes feelings of calmness, grace and elegance, a colour connected to artistic expression and creativity."
The bundle includes the Cricut Joy Xtra Smart Cutting Machine in Lavender, three sheets of A4 printable vinyl, six sheets of Smart Vinyl, six sheets of Joy Xtra Transfer Tape, one Joy Xtra Light Grip Machine Mat, one Joy Fine Point Pen, a small scraper and mini weeder, and three sheets of cardstock. Cricut notes the machine is "compatible with 50+ materials" and comes with "50 ready-to-make projects" as well as Bluetooth and app compatibility.
Features highlighted
According to Cricut, "Cricut Joy Xtra cuts, writes, draws, and foils to make popular projects like full-colour stickers, custom cards, t-shirts, vinyl decals, and more." A key component of the machine is the Easy Printables Sensor, which "recognises and precision-cuts around inkjet-printed images to create stickers and so much more." The company has stated that the machine "can cut a single image up to 1.2 metres (4') long or repeated cuts, like stars and hearts, up to 6 metres (20') long." In addition to cutting, Cricut Joy Xtra can "foil, write, and draw in a variety of fonts, styles, and line weights."
The bundle is designed to help "home crafters, small businesses, teachers or anyone who loves to express their creativity and make sentimental, cutomised items." Cricut also emphasises that no design experience is required, as the machine is supported by the "user-friendly Cricut Design Space platform, access to thousands of easy-to-edit images and pre-designed templates, makes the process of creating easy."
For workflow efficiency, Cricut points out that "Smart Vinyl requires no cutting mat, simplifying workflow while letting you cut up to 1.2 metres for a continuous design cut." All necessary equipment and starter materials are presented as part of the bundle to provide a straightforward entry point for new users.
Support and platform
To aid users in getting started, Cricut highlights the inclusion of a "quick start guide to learn about everything in your box and a few quick tips to get started" as well as "a dedicated Member Care team for technical support." The company states that its mission is to enable "people to make professional-looking handmade goods right from the comfort of their home."
