EP Starter to be free for all Australian schools until 2025 end

Today

Education Perfect has announced that its assessment-focused subscription package, EP Starter, will be free of charge to all Australian secondary schools for the remainder of 2025.

Amidst ongoing discussions about the impact of funding disparities in Australian education, Education Perfect is making its EP Starter platform accessible to schools facing financial constraints. Recent analysis indicates that only 2% of public schools receive their full entitlement, leaving the majority to operate with reduced resources and placing pressure on educators to deliver quality learning with limited support.

EP Starter has been designed to provide teachers with resources including curriculum-aligned assessments for Years 7-10 Mathematics and beginner Languages, with Years 7-10 Science also set to be included in Term 3. The platform integrates AI-powered quiz creation, live growth analytics, and workflow tools, aiming to streamline both assessment and tailored learning pathways for students. Teachers can assign assessments quickly, receive immediate analysis through a live dashboard, and make data-driven decisions about lesson planning and remediation.

Education Perfect's own survey, drawing on responses from over 400 teachers in Australia and New Zealand, found that the majority of educators would prioritise technology and artificial intelligence integration in the classroom if budgets allowed for it. EP says that the free release of EP Starter is in response to this demand, seeking to enable data-informed instruction regardless of a school's resources or location.

Features and workflow

EP Starter includes a library of curriculum diagnostics, an AI-powered quiz builder for generating curriculum-aligned questions, and side-by-side growth reports to track student progress across different assessment points. The system is designed to allow teachers to identify student learning gaps and assign targeted practice quickly, adapting to the specific needs and interests of each class.

James Santure, Head of Product Impact at Education Perfect, explained the intentions behind the initiative in a statement:

"Great teaching shouldn't depend on how much money a school can spend. By weaving curriculum‐aligned assessments into EP Starter, and initially making the package free, we're amplifying teacher impact and ensuring equitable access to world‐class learning across multiple subjects. Every student deserves the chance to master core skills, and every Australian teacher deserves tools that work straight out of the box."

The company states that the package takes less than an hour to set up, minimising the administrative overhead that can often be a barrier to implementing new educational technology, especially for schools experiencing staffing limitations or significant demands on teacher time.

Teacher perspectives

Feedback from educators who have trialled or worked with the EP Starter offering emphasises its practicality and impact in the classroom environment. Julia Min, Math product advisor and Maths Teacher, commented:

"As a maths teacher, this new product is an excellent tool which gives teachers many options on assessing their students. It is gamechanging in the sense that it gives immediate, actionable insights into where students are at, allowing them to assign tasks to address any potential gaps in their learning in real time. The learning snapshot reports are a great way for teachers tracking progress—they make it so easy to see exactly where each student is struggling or excelling. And the new lessons with the built-in difficulty model are fantastic. Maths teachers can tailor the learning experience to meet the needs of every student, ensuring they stay engaged and challenged at the right level. This product isn't just a tool; it's a partner in ensuring students reach their full potential."

Other teachers echoed the platform's efficiency in adapting to diverse classroom dynamics. Camilla Andrews of Mountain Creek State High School said:

"It's so handy and quick to do, find out what my students know, and what to teach next. My class is made up of multi-level classes, so it helps with what classes to teach next."

Expanding access

The provision of EP Starter without fees aligns with Education Perfect's public commitment to advancing equitable access in education nationally. The company indicates that by making this technology freely available, it intends to remove financial barriers and provide every Australian secondary school with resources to deliver personalised, assessment-driven learning.

In addition to its current features, the upcoming inclusion of Years 7-10 Science assessments in Term 3 2025 is expected to further expand the platform's scope, covering more key learning areas within the Australian curriculum and supporting teachers in a broader range of subjects.
