LG unveils 19kg WashTower, Australia’s largest washer, from AUD $4,999
LG Electronics has introduced a new laundry appliance combining a 19kg washing machine and a 10kg dryer in a single, stacked unit, now the largest capacity washing machine on the Australian market.
The LG WashTower range features four models and is available in Navy Blue, Forest Green, Black and Matte Grey. The lineup builds on LG's previous models, increasing the washing machine's capacity by 2kg, and aims to allow users to process larger wash loads in fewer cycles. The recommended retail price starts from AUD $4,999.
Increased capacity
The new 19kg washer marks a notable increase over the 17kg capacity of earlier versions. This additional capacity enables washing of bigger loads, including household items such as sheets, towels, doonas, and jackets in fewer cycles. Despite its expanded volume, the WashTower remains suitable for vertical laundry configurations, using a single stacked footprint, which supports installation in modern homes.
The sequential wash and dry process, enabled by the design, is intended to help prevent the build-up of laundry by streamlining the transition between washing and drying cycles. The dryer component offers a 10kg capacity and is rated with a 10-star energy rating, reflecting efficiency in drying performance. The washing machine has achieved a 4.5-star energy rating and a 4-star WELS water rating, with water consumption recorded at 195 litres per load under typical conditions.
AI-driven laundry care
The WashTower introduces expanded artificial intelligence features designed to simplify the laundry process. The system incorporates LG's AI Direct Drive (AI DD) technology, which can automatically select the optimal wash cycle by detecting the type and weight of the fabrics. The AI Wash Cycle adjusts settings for care and cleanliness, while the new AI Dry Cycle modifies drying times based on real-time humidity and temperature measurements, with the aim of saving both energy and time.
Shannon Tweedie, Marketing Manager for Home Appliance Solution Company at LG Electronics Australia, commented on the product launch, stating:
"LG is committed to delivering innovative laundry solutions that meet the changing needs of Australian households and help them rediscover the good in everyday moments."
Tweedie added,
"Our largest ever washing machine addresses the growing demand for appliances that offer greater long-term value by allowing users to tackle large wash loads in fewer cycles, saving valuable time, all while fitting seamlessly into modern homes."
The line also features the ezDispense system, designed to automatically distribute sufficient detergent and softener for up to 31 medium-size loads, and sends refill alerts to compatible smartphones. The system calculates the correct dosage based on fabric type and load size, aiming to optimise cleaning performance while reducing waste.
Smart Pairing, another feature in the range, helps automate the laundry process by setting the dryer cycle based on the wash cycle selected. This is intended to further reduce the steps needed to process laundry from start to finish.
User-centred design
The WashTower range is equipped with a 4.3-inch LCD touch display, allowing users to control both washer and dryer from a unified interface. Settings include on/off, wash or dry, cycle options, and progress monitoring. This interface aims to provide enhanced control and simplicity of operation for users during laundry tasks.
The product is also compatible with the LG ThinQ mobile application, which enables remote monitoring and control of appliances, offers notifications, and provides information on energy usage and settings adjustment from a smartphone. The Allergy Care Cycle with Steam is included as a feature to help reduce common allergens such as dust mites, pollen, and pet allergens during the wash, with the objective of supporting cleaner household fabrics.
Colour and home integration
LG's WashTower Laundry Survey found that nearly two-thirds of Australian consumers have a preference for coloured appliances. Forest Green was identified as the second most popular choice after Black, and the new range offers four colourways to suit a variety of home décors. The appliance's design is intended to blend into residential environments, reflecting current trends in home appliance aesthetics.
The WashTower 19/10kg models are currently available through Australian retailers and LG's own distribution channels. The four available models share the same capacity and performance specifications, and are differentiated by their exterior finish, dimensions remain consistent across the range at 700mm wide by 1890mm high by 830mm deep.
The WashTower is registered as Australia's largest capacity washing machine as of May 2025, according to data from the government's energy rating calculator.
