Logitech G unveils RS H-Shifter for serious sim racers
Logitech G has launched the RS H-Shifter, a manual gear shifter for sim racing set-ups on PC and consoles. It joins the company's Racing Series Ecosystem and uses a seven-speed pattern with reverse.
The RS H-Shifter is aimed at players who prefer a physical shifter over paddle shifting, particularly in games that model manual transmissions. It is designed for dedicated sim rigs as well as desk-based set-ups.
The shifter uses a seven-speed-plus-reverse mechanism with a push-through lockout for reverse and seventh gear. Logitech G says this mirrors real-world transmissions and helps prevent accidental shifts under pressure.
Hall Effect contactless sensors handle gear detection, avoiding the wear associated with mechanical contacts. Logitech G says the design helps maintain consistent performance over time.
The construction combines aluminium and steel with high-strength plastic components. Logitech G says it focused on durability, with stress testing across repeated gear changes, and positions reliability as a key point of differentiation in the shifter market.
Mounting options
The RS H-Shifter ships with a table clamp and rig-mounting hardware, covering both casual furniture set-ups and fixed cockpits built around wheel stands and racing seats.
Ergonomics can be adjusted through aftermarket parts. Racers can swap the gear knob via an M8 thread and add shaft extenders, allowing different throw heights and hand positions for compact desks and full-size cockpits.
Platform support
Compatibility is central to the launch. The shifter plugs directly into Logitech G's RS50 or PRO Wheels without additional adapters.
On consoles, players on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One can connect it through the Logitech G Racing Adapter when using G-Series wheels, keeping it within the company's wider wheel-and-pedal ecosystem.
On PC, the RS H-Shifter can connect via the RS50 or PRO Wheel, or directly over USB. That flexibility may suit racers building a mixed-brand set-up or upgrading a rig piece by piece.
Market context
Sim racing has expanded beyond niche hobbyist circles in recent years, as mainstream racing games adopt deeper handling models and more detailed cockpit interaction. This has increased demand for physical controls that mirror road cars and competition vehicles, particularly in rally and drifting communities where manual shifting remains common.
Accessory makers have increasingly competed on feel, longevity, and interoperability. Shifters vary widely in throw length, gate definition, and resistance, while long-term consistency has become a frequent concern for high-mileage users.
Logitech G positions the RS H-Shifter as a response to those pressures within its line-up, filling a gap for buyers who want a matching manual shifter in the Racing Series range.
"There's a strong demand from car enthusiasts worldwide for the connection and control that a manual shifter offers," said Richard Neville, Head of Product, Simulation at Logitech G. "The RS H-Shifter's engaging, racing gearbox feel is engineered to reliably deliver the elevated experience that is expected from Racing Series and PRO products."
The RS H-Shifter is priced at AUD $299.95 and is available worldwide through Logitech G and authorised retail partners.
The RS H-Shifter enters a market where racers increasingly mix and match wheels, pedals, and handbrakes. Its USB connectivity on PC, alongside wheel-based connections, suggests Logitech G expects it to fit a wide range of set-ups as sim racing hardware buying continues through 2026.
