New line of GoPro gear comes to stores this month

FYI, this story is more than a year old

GoPro's family of devices will grow a little larger in October, as the GoPro HERO8 Black, GoPro MAX, and Mods hit shelves later this month.

“It's been 15 years since the first GoPro camera, and from the start, we've been about enabling people to share their passions whether they're fuelled by adrenaline or artistry,” says GoPro founder and CEO Nick Woodman.

“HERO8 Black, the Mods and MAX redefine what's possible with a camera.

Following on from the popular HERO7 Black, the HERO8 Black features next-level video stabilization with HyperSmooth 2.0, upgraded audio, customizable capture presets and a streamlined design. The new camera also features TimeWarp 2.0, which auto adjusts to your speed and can be slowed to real time with a tap - perfect for hyperlapse-style videos with unparalleled stabilisation.

The GoPro MAX is the most expensive of the family. It offers plenty of uses as as a single lens max stabilised HERO camera, a dual lens 360 camera or a vlogging camera—all in one. The camera includes Max Hypersmooth, in-camera horizon levelling, Max TimeWarp and Max SuperView - GoPro's widest, most immersive field of view. A camera like no other, the MAX allows innovators to capture spherical images and videos at 5.6K. It's also waterproof to 4.87 metres.

Mods for the Hero8 Black will be available in December. They include a range of accessories like the Media Mod; a front-facing display mod; and an enhanced lighting mod.

Media Mod: This delivers shotgun-mic directional audio performance and features two cold shoe mounts for additional accessories along with Type-C, HDMI and 3.5-mm external mic adapter ports.

Display Mod: This is a folding front- or rear-facing 1.90-inch display that attaches to the top of the Media Mod. It's the perfect size for both framing up vlogging shots and folding down and out of the way when not in use.

Light Mod: Waterproof to 10 metres, wearable and mountable on gear, the Light Mod is the world's most versatile light. The Light Mod is ready to brighten any scene, whether mounted to the Media Mod or attached to a GoPro mount, and it comes complete with a diffuser to soften lighting when filming with HERO8 Black.
