Samsung has announced the Galaxy S25 FE for the Australian market, marking an entry point for consumers seeking Galaxy AI features with a focus on accessibility, camera enhancements and long-term performance guarantees.
The Galaxy S25 FE is equipped with One UI 8 and introduces users to the latest Galaxy AI suite, supporting multiple types of user input including voice, touch, and visual commands that work together to support daily tasks.
Artificial Intelligence
The device's core AI proposition is underpinned by Samsung's multimodal AI agents, which offer a more natural and contextually aware interface. Features such as Gemini Live allow real-time visual conversations, leveraging the phone's camera to enable contextual questions and responses. Users can, for instance, ask for outfit recommendations based on weather by simply pointing the camera at options and inquiring directly.
Other AI-powered options include Now Bar, which supplies updates and personalised notifications from the lock screen, and Now Brief, which consolidates daily routines, events, and fitness updates. Samsung also brings Circle to Search with Google, which allows gaming or app users to circle anything of interest for instant information without pausing their workflow or gameplay.
Jay Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Office, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, commented on the device's intended role in the brand's ecosystem:
"Galaxy S25 FE plays an important role as a gateway into the broader Galaxy AI ecosystem, making these experiences more attainable for a wider range of users. With expanded personalised AI experiences and AI-powered photography and editing tools, Galaxy S25 FE empowers more people to bring greater convenience and creativity into their everyday lives."
Security Features
In response to privacy concerns about AI-powered features, Samsung has implemented Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP). This establishes isolated, encrypted app environments so that individual apps only access their own data. Additionally, user preferences tied to AI experiences remain stored on-device via the Personal Data Engine and are protected by Knox Vault.
Camera and Visual Tools
The Galaxy S25 FE's camera system consists of a 50MP wide camera with optical image stabilisation, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and an upgraded 12MP front-facing camera. The ProVisual Engine manages advanced features such as improved low-light photography with Nightography and new Super HDR support for video, which aims to provide more accurate colours and contrast in recorded content.
AI-based tools, including Photo Assist, Generative Edit, and Instant Slow-mo, offer users greater control over image and video post-processing. Generative Edit proactively suggests edits for distractions in photos and fills backgrounds as required, whilst Portrait Studio provides users the option to create avatars with more life-like facial expressions. Audio Eraser is designed for selective sound muting, distinguishing voices, music, wind, crowd and other noises within recorded videos. Auto Trim selects the most significant portions of video content automatically, aiming to streamline content creation.
Performance and Design
The Galaxy S25 FE has a 4,900mAh battery, with support for up to 45W wired charging. Samsung claims the vapour chamber for cooling is over 10% larger than on the previous generation, helping to maintain thermal efficiency under processor-intensive use.
The phone operates on an Exynos 2400 (4nm) processor and provides storage options of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB, all with 8GB of RAM. Its 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The chassis utilises an Armour Aluminium frame, whilst the overall form factor has a slim, lightweight design. The phone is rated IP68 water and dust resistant and is available in Icyblue, Jetblack, and Navy colourways, though availability by region may vary.
Samsung emphasises the long-term software support for the Galaxy S25 FE, stating that the device will include seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, aiming to extend hardware lifespan and ensure ongoing device optimisation. One UI 8 will also roll out to additional Galaxy S25 series devices starting later this month.
Pricing and availability
The Galaxy S25 FE will be sold in Australia from late September. The recommended retail price is AUD $1,099 for the 128GB model, AUD $1,199 for the 256GB variant, and AUD $1,399 for the 512GB version. Purchasers will also receive six months' access to the Google AI Pro plan, which includes higher access to features within Gemini, Flow, and NotebookLM.
For users seeking to augment the audio-visual experience, Samsung's press materials also recommend pairing the Galaxy S25 FE with the new Galaxy Buds3 FE.
The S25 FE's combination of AI-driven features, camera options, privacy controls and longevity in software updates targets a mid-range audience with expectations for contemporary smartphone functionality at a modest price point.
