TCL Australia has launched its Super Drum Series washer and dryer in Australia, led by a 10.5kg front-loading washing machine with what it says is the largest drum diameter in its 24-inch class.

The washer, the WF10C60W, is priced at AUD $999 and comes in white. The matching DH90C60W dryer, also in white, has a 9kg capacity and is priced at AUD $1,199.

The launch expands TCL's home appliance line-up in Australia beyond its better-known televisions and consumer electronics. It also places the company in a competitive part of the whitegoods market, where size, energy use and price are key selling points for households replacing older laundry equipment.

At the centre of the range is the washer's 540mm drum, which TCL says is the largest available in a 24-inch front-load model. According to the company, the larger diameter lifts clothes higher during a cycle to create a stronger tumbling action for bigger loads.

The design is part of what TCL calls its three-part Super Drum washing system. Alongside the larger drum, the washer uses six bionic lifters and a wave-patterned interior that TCL says is designed to reduce wear on clothing by maintaining a layer of water between the drum and garments as it rotates.

Laundry push

The dryer is positioned around lower energy use and fabric care. TCL says the DH90C60W uses Eco Heat Pump technology and includes a three-in-one filter designed to simplify cleaning.

Both appliances include built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. Users can track, start and stop washing and drying cycles through the TCL Home mobile app, allowing remote control from outside the laundry room.

The combination of larger capacity and connected controls reflects a broader trend in the appliance sector, where manufacturers are adding software features to products that have historically competed mainly on size, reliability and electricity consumption. For buyers, the question is often whether those additions justify the price in a market already crowded with established brands.

Australia's major appliance market has faced pressure from higher household costs, pushing brands to balance price with claims of efficiency and convenience. TCL appears to be targeting that middle ground by linking the new range to family use, larger loads and app-based management without moving into top-end pricing.

Hawke Zhang, Managing Director, TCL Electronics Australia, said the launch is aimed at households that want larger laundry appliances without moving away from mainstream price points.

"For many Australian families, the laundry never gets a day off," said Hawke Zhang, Managing Director, TCL Electronics Australia.

"It shouldn't take up more time than it needs to. That's why we develop washers and dryers around one simple question: how can we make our customers' lives easier? The Super Drum Series is a clear example of that approach. The WF10C60W washer's capacity means it can handle more clothes per load, while the larger drum diameter delivers stronger tumbling and better garment care. It's a practical innovation that families will notice every time they use it."

Price segment

The washer's 10.5kg capacity places it at the larger end of the consumer front-load category, which is often marketed to families and households looking to reduce the number of weekly loads. A bigger drum can also appeal to buyers washing bulky items such as bedding, although TCL's main emphasis is on everyday capacity and garment handling.

The dryer's 9kg capacity is slightly smaller than the washer's, a common pairing in consumer laundry sets. Heat pump dryers have gained share in many markets because they typically use less electricity than vented alternatives, though they also tend to come with a higher upfront price.

TCL said the products are meant to address demand for capacity, efficiency and affordability in one package. It also linked the range to its wider "Affordable Premium" positioning in Australia, where it has sought to expand beyond screens and mobile devices.

In a second statement, Zhang said TCL believes Australian buyers want stronger value from laundry purchases.

"Australian households are looking for more from their laundry appliances, such as greater capacity, strong performance and better efficiency, while still at an accessible price point," said Zhang.

"The Super Drum Series delivers directly against those demands and reflects TCL's Affordable Premium positioning by bringing premium features and meaningful innovation within reach of more Australian households. The larger 540mm drum gives consumers a genuine point of difference, combining the ability to handle bigger everyday loads with improved garment care and efficiency. For TCL, it's about delivering technology that customers can easily understand, see and benefit from every day."

The Super Drum Series washer is priced at AUD $999, while the dryer costs AUD $1,199.
