Apple's first touchscreen MacBook Pro is now available in Australia, alongside an M6-powered MacBook Pro, an updated iMac and a redesigned iPad mini. The touchscreen laptops start at AUD $4,599, while the tablet starts at AUD $1,099.

The devices are available through Apple and authorised resellers. All Australian prices include GST.

Touchscreen Macs

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display starts at AUD $4,599 with M5 Pro. The equivalent 16-inch model starts at AUD $5,499.

M5 Max configurations start at AUD $6,999 for the 14-inch model and AUD $7,699 for the 16-inch version.

Both sizes use tandem OLED displays with touch controls. Users can swipe through webpages, pinch to enlarge photographs and drag slides between presentations. Existing keyboard and trackpad controls remain available.

Apple specifies peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Dynamic Island provides access to Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI.

The laptops support up to 128GB of unified memory and 16TB of storage. Apple claims battery life of up to 24 hours.

M6 laptop

A separate 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 starts at AUD $3,199. It retains the Liquid Retina XDR display.

The M6 chip has a 12-core central processor and 12-core graphics processor. Apple claims graphics performance is up to 30 per cent faster than M5, with up to 25 per cent faster performance for on-device AI workloads.

The laptop includes 16GB of unified memory as standard, configurable to 32GB. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Apple claims battery life of up to 24 hours.

Other features include a 12-megapixel Centre Stage camera, a six-speaker sound system and an optional nano-texture display. It comes in space black and silver.

Desktop update

The iMac with M6 starts at AUD $2,399 with a 10-core central processor and 10-core graphics processor. A configuration with 12 cores in each starts at AUD $2,699.

The all-in-one desktop retains a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display. It supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, with an optional 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet connection. Configurations offer up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports.

Apple claims graphics performance is up to twice as fast as the M4 model. The desktop runs macOS 27 and comes in blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver.

Smaller tablet

The iPad mini gains an 8.5-inch OLED display and A20 Pro chip. The Wi-Fi model starts at AUD $1,099, while Wi-Fi + Cellular versions start at AUD $1,349.

The tablet measures 5.4mm thick and carries an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. Its 12-megapixel front camera sits on the landscape edge.

Apple specifies peak display brightness of up to 1,200 nits. A nano-texture option reduces glare in bright conditions.

The new model supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil with USB-C. Both styluses are sold separately.

Storage options are 128GB, 256GB and 512GB. The tablet comes in midnight and starlight.
