Crunchyroll surpasses 15 million paying subscribers mark
Crunchyroll reported that it has exceeded 15 million monthly paying subscribers, a significant marker for the firm and the wider anime industry. The announcement underscores the growing popularity of anime worldwide.
Crunchyroll is a global anime streaming service that offers a vast library of anime series, movies, and manga to millions of fans worldwide. Crunchyroll has become a go-to platform for anime enthusiasts, offering both subtitled and dubbed content across various devices, including mobile phones, gaming consoles, and smart TVs.
In addition to streaming, Crunchyroll is involved in the production and distribution of anime content, licensing, and merchandising. The company has a strong community focus, hosting events like Crunchyroll Expo and the annual Anime Awards, which celebrate the best in anime.
Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll, said, "This is proof that the rich stories, characters, and experiences that our partners create are resonating deeply with fans at record numbers all over the world. As the number of people excited about anime continues to explode and the breadth of content continues to widen, we believe it has never been a better time to be an anime fan."
The service boasts the world's largest dedicated anime streaming library, encompassing 50,000 episodes and over 25,000 hours of assorted anime series, music, and films. Crunchyroll has expanded its activities across various platforms, including events, theatrical releases, gaming, and e-commerce.
Each season, the platform launches between 45 and 60 new and returning series, ranging from co-productions to acquisitions. Popular series such as "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba", "JUJUTSU KAISEN", "One Piece", "Chainsaw Man", and "Solo Leveling" are significant draws for the service. Last year, Crunchyroll collaborated with Sony Music Entertainment Japan to incorporate anime-related music into its offerings, adding 3,300 music videos and concerts.
The company has also made efforts to diversify language options. Recently, it introduced Tamil and Telugu dubs to cater to audiences in India and beyond, bringing the total number of languages in which it dubs content to 12.
The brand has revised its identity, adopting a modernised logo featuring a balanced eye symbol and a revamped wordmark. Additionally, a new font set named Crunchyroll Atyp has been created to blend classic and modern elements, enhancing readability. The updated colour palette includes shades of orange, black, white, and taupe, designed to reflect the dynamic nature of anime.
Crunchyroll continues to expand its influence by offering various mediums through which fans can engage with anime, from streaming and theatrical releases to events, games, music, news, and merchandise. Central to its strategy is fostering connections between fans and creators to celebrate shared passions.
