Dreame launches pocket cake hair dryer in Australia
Thu, 5th Nov 2026 (Today)
Dreame Technology has launched the Pocket Cake high-speed hair dryer in Australia, expanding its personal care range.
The compact, foldable model is aimed at consumers seeking a travel-friendly styling tool. It weighs less than 450 grams and comes with a styling nozzle and storage bag.
Priced at AUD $299, the device is available online through Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi and Dreame, and in store at Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi.
Product details
Pocket Cake uses a 110,000RPM brushless motor and can generate airflow speeds of up to 70m/s, according to Dreame. It also includes an NTC temperature control system that monitors heat 500 times per second and adjusts output during use.
The dryer features 350 million negative ions per cubic centimetre, which Dreame says is intended to reduce static and flyaways and leave hair smoother after styling.
The design folds through 180 degrees into what Dreame describes as a phone-sized shape, making it easier to store in carry-on luggage, handbags and gym bags. The model supports 220-240V, placing it within the voltage range used in Australia and several other markets.
Consumer push
The launch follows the company's earlier Pocket hair dryer and forms part of a broader effort to build out its beauty and haircare line-up. Founded in 2017, Dreame is better known for smart home appliances such as robotic vacuum cleaners, but has been expanding further into personal care.
The product is available in four finishes: Lemon Parfait, Peach Mochi, Grape Mousse and Tiramisu. The colour-led branding suggests Dreame is targeting style-conscious buyers, as well as travellers and everyday users looking for smaller devices.
Patrick Wang, Business Director, Dreame Technology ANZ, said the company sees demand for products that fit around busy routines.
"Australians are increasingly looking for products that fit seamlessly into busy lifestyles without compromising on performance," said Patrick Wang, Business Director, Dreame Technology ANZ. "Pocket Cake delivers professional-level drying performance in a compact design, making it ideal for everyday styling, travel and life on the go. This launch further shows Dreame's mark on the beauty and personal care industry to match consumer needs."
Design recognition
Pocket Cake has also received a 2026 European Product Design Award in the Personal Care, Wellness and Beauty category, according to Dreame. The recognition adds to a growing list of awards the company has cited as it broadens its portfolio across home cleaning and personal care.
Dreame says it has lodged more than 2,000 patent applications globally and has been granted more than 800 patents. While its stronger market profile has come from floor care products, the Pocket Cake launch shows how consumer technology groups are using existing brand recognition to enter adjacent household categories.
In Australia, personal care devices have become a more competitive segment as electronics brands and appliance makers push into products once dominated by specialist beauty labels. Compact hair dryers, straighteners and multi-use styling tools have become a particular focus, especially as brands try to appeal to consumers who want lighter products for travel and smaller living spaces.
For Dreame, Pocket Cake sits at the intersection of beauty, portability and consumer electronics. At AUD $299, it enters the market as a premium-priced device, with an emphasis on design, compactness and motor speed rather than basic hair drying alone.
The launch also underlines how brands in the home appliance market are seeking growth outside their original categories, using personal care products to widen customer reach and increase shelf presence in major electronics retailers.
