Giving Day delivers essential aid & raises AUD $6,340 for Victorians

Thu, 28th Aug 2025

Blue Connections IT and Dell Technologies collaborated for their fourth annual Giving Day event to support Anglicare Victoria's emergency relief services.

The Giving Day event took place at Blue Connections IT's Scoresby headquarters and saw the participation of a record number of volunteers. They packed 400 hampers and 100 backpacks with essential supplies for individuals and families in need across Victoria. The hampers contained over 4,400 food items, including cereal, long-life milk, pasta, rice, tinned goods, and pancake mix. In addition to food, volunteers added teddy bears, chocolate treats, and handwritten notes to the hampers, aiming to offer a personal touch to the recipients.

The 100 backpacks packed by volunteers were filled with winter essentials such as hats, scarves, socks, and toiletry kits. These backpacks, as well as the hampers, were delivered to Mission House and Anglicare Victoria's Fitzroy Homeless Support Services, where frontline staff distributed them to families and individuals experiencing hardship.

This year, participants in the Giving Day event also raised AUD $3,170 in donations. Blue Connections IT matched this amount dollar for dollar, resulting in a total contribution of AUD $6,340. The funding will be used by Anglicare Victoria to provide fresh food, grocery vouchers, petrol vouchers, and other essential items through its 16 emergency relief sites located throughout the state.

Largest Giving Day yet

"This year's Giving Day was the biggest yet, and it keeps growing in both size and significance. Customers, partners, and employees worked together with a shared goal and clear purpose, showing what a united community can achieve. Every bag packed and every dollar raised will make a difference to someone in need. Everyone left inspired, already looking to an even bigger and better Giving Day in 2026," said Gordon Brownell, Chief Executive Officer, Blue Connections IT.

The event included not only Blue Connections IT and Dell Technologies, but also support from companies and organisations such as Schneider Electric, Dicker Data, Ingram Micro, Arid Zone, Thread Together, and Bigger than Texas. These partners contributed goods and funding that were described by organisers as key factors in the success of this year's event.

Community need

"The 2025 Giving Day came at a crucial time. Families across Victoria are under pressure, and these hampers and financial contributions arrived when they were needed most. Blue Connections IT and Dell Technologies helped hundreds of Victorians put food on the table, stay warm with essential clothing, and gain some much-needed breathing room. This generosity reminds struggling families they're not alone and helps ease the daily pressure they face," said Kirsty Simpson, Director, Strategic Communications and Marketing, Anglicare Victoria.

An example shared on the day described the situation of Robert, a single father of four, who had been living on just AUD $300 a week and skipping meals to feed his children. After running out of food, Robert reached out to Anglicare Victoria for emergency help. The support he received provided immediate relief and enabled him to care for his family without the burden of extra stress.

Long-term partnership

Giving Day began in 2022, strengthening a partnership between Blue Connections IT and Anglicare Victoria that first started in 2018 with technology upgrades for the agency. Since then, the relationship has expanded to include hands-on, community-focused activities such as the Giving Day initiative. These activities aim to address both digital and practical everyday needs among vulnerable communities in Victoria.

Anglicare Victoria delivers emergency assistance, family services and youth programs to tens of thousands of Victorians each year through its network of more than 45 sites and over 1,700 staff and volunteers. Blue Connections IT continues to partner with organisations and suppliers to contribute resources and aid aimed at supporting these essential services.
