Jaecoo launches SUVs in Australia with Daniel MacPherson
JAECOO has entered the Australian automotive market, introducing its J7 and J8 SUVs along with announcing Daniel MacPherson as its first brand ambassador.
The launch event at Centennial Parklands in Sydney marks the official Australian debut for JAECOO, a manufacturer known for its premium SUVs that focus on design, technology, and adaptability.
Actor and athlete Daniel MacPherson has been named Mr JAECOO Australia, reflecting the brand's emphasis on performance and adventure. MacPherson has gained prominence on Australian television and in international productions, with a reputation extending beyond acting to include athleticism and a spirit for adventure.
MacPherson spoke about his new role and connection to the brand: "I've always been drawn to performance—whether it's on set, on the racecourse, or in the car. The JAECOO 7 is one of the most exciting vehicles I've driven. It's stylish, capable, and packed with innovation, yet surprisingly, it comes without the luxury price tag. I'm proud to be part of a movement that's not only shaking things up but doing it with such a strong sense of identity."
The JAECOO J7, a mid-size premium SUV, was premiered alongside the larger J8 model, which is scheduled to become available to Australian customers from June 2025. Both vehicles feature what JAECOO describes as a signature blend of distinctive design and technology-driven performance, targeting a balance between luxury and versatility.
JAECOO has also introduced the J7 Super Hybrid System, which the company claims can cover 1,200 kilometres on a single tank of fuel and travel 106 kilometres in electric vehicle mode. This hybrid system is intended to offer consumers a combination of efficiency and adaptability for various driving needs.
Roy Munoz, Chief Commercial Officer, JAECOO Australia, commented on the broader ambitions for the brand in the local market: "This isn't just about new cars—it's about offering something different for Australian drivers to capture their sense of adventure. Daniel MacPherson reflects that spirit perfectly—he's someone who pushes himself and embraces new challenges. We're excited to welcome him as Mr Jaecoo."
With the launch of the J7, JAECOO has partnered with environmental charity Greenfleet to create the JAECOO Forest project. This initiative will see 7,000 native trees planted within the Strzelecki Nature Link on Boonwurrung Country in South Gippsland, Victoria. The project aims to restore 3.5 kilometres of protected wildlife habitat, in line with the company's commitment to supporting sustainability in Australia.
As part of his ambassadorship, MacPherson will initially drive the all-new JAECOO 7 all-wheel drive in a Forest Green finish. Later in the year, he is set to transition into the J7 Super Hybrid System model, reflecting the company's push towards energy-efficient motoring options.
The company name, JAECOO, is derived from the German word "Jäger" and the English word "Cool." It reflects a focus on all-road capability and refined style and quality. The company has indicated future plans to promote sustainable development by combining off-road capability with new energy solutions to enhance the travel experience.
