LG unveils 2025 QNED evo TVs with advanced AI & Mini LED
LG Electronics has introduced its 2025 QNED evo TV range, featuring Mini LED technology, an updated Alpha AI processor, and the enhanced webOS 25 platform in its premium LCD TVs.
The new QNED evo TVs, certified by Intertek for achieving 100 percent colour volume, are designed to reproduce vibrant, true-to-life colours under a variety of lighting conditions. According to LG, "certified by Intertek for achieving 100 percent colour volume, these TVs reproduce rich, true-to-life colours in both bright and dark environments."
Key to the range is LG's proprietary Dynamic QNED Colour solution. This technology, which replaces the use of quantum dot technology, enables improved colour reproduction, offering viewers "outstanding depth, clarity and precision regardless of lighting conditions."
Mini LED technology, found in select models, is powered by the latest Alpha AI processor. The inclusion of this technology enhances the TVs' light control, resulting in improved image contrast and accuracy. LG states that the QNED evo models "boast refined light control, enhancing the contrast and accuracy of images to ensure deeper blacks, brighter highlights and well-balanced picture quality." Advanced AI algorithms are employed to control each lighting zone to provide more immersive visuals.
Picture and sound quality are enhanced by the AI Picture Pro function, which optimises image detail, depth and accuracy. "LG's AI Picture Pro optimises detail, depth and accuracy, fine-tuning every scene with sophisticated processing to achieve refined picture quality across all content," a company statement explained.
The AI Object Enhancer is capable of identifying and enhancing faces, bodies, and key scene elements for greater detail and naturalism, while Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro divides each scene into blocks to fine-tune brightness and contrast, aiming to produce "more vivid and lifelike visuals." The TV's built-in speakers are supported by AI Sound Pro, which delivers virtual 9.1.2 surround sound, creating a deeper sense of spatial clarity.
The 2025 QNED evo range is designed to provide a personalised entertainment experience, leveraging AI enhancements that analyse over 1.6 billion image settings and 40 million sound profiles. The AI Picture/Sound Wizard recommends tailored audio and visual modes for individual users, allowing a greater level of customisation.
For user convenience, LG has introduced an AI button on the AI Magic Remote. This feature provides voice recognition and streamlines navigation. The remote also offers a pointer function similar to a computer mouse, enabling easy content browsing and mode adjustments. "The remote's pointer function works like a computer mouse, allowing users to easily explore content and adjust viewing modes," LG stated.
A number of AI-powered features support personalisation within the entertainment experience. AI Voice ID can recognise individual voices to switch user profiles and suggest content. "LG AI Concierge analyses viewing history and user habits to provide curated content suggestions and keyword recommendations, while AI Search understands conversational context and user intent for more intuitive content discovery." Integration with Microsoft Copilot aims to make organising and finding information more efficient, and users can access an AI Chatbot to resolve issues related to TV operations.
The webOS 25 smart TV platform, which operates on the Alpha AI processor, underpins the user experience. LG notes that owners of webOS-powered TVs can receive system updates for up to five years, helping to maintain access to the newest smart TV features during the life of the product.
The new TVs can also serve as central smart home hubs via the Home Hub interface, connecting with LG ThinQ, Google Home, Apple AirPlay, and Google Cast to support compatible smart home devices and enable seamless content sharing from personal devices to the screen. LG explained, "The Home Hub offers multi-platform connectivity via LG ThinQ and Google Home integration, allowing users to manage their compatible smart home devices through a single, intuitive interface."
Gaming performance is a focus of the 2025 QNED evo models, which offer fluid motion and vivid visuals, including support for up to 4K 144Hz on selected models with AMD FreeSync Premium. The LG Gaming Portal allows users to discover and play a range of games, including those from partnered cloud gaming services and native webOS app games, without needing additional hardware.
Available in sizes from 55 inches up to 100 inches, the 2025 lineup caters to diverse consumer needs. LG's new 100-inch model is aimed at delivering a cinema-quality experience in a home setting as demand for larger screens continues to grow.
The 2025 QNED evo range is currently available in Korea, the US, and Europe, with further markets scheduled to follow throughout the year.
