LG unveils world-first transparent wireless OLED TV at AUD $74,999
LG Electronics Australia has launched the LG SIGNATURE OLED T, billed as the world's first transparent and true wireless 4K OLED television, now available across Australia.
The 77-inch television features a transparent, self-lit OLED screen combined with wireless capabilities, which allows it to be placed virtually anywhere in the home without obstructing views or natural light. The OLED T connects via LG's Zero Connect Box, delivering 4K content at up to 120Hz without visible cables, aside from a required power cord.
According to LG, the OLED T offers a new approach for Australians considering technology integration with their home environments. When set to transparent mode, the device is designed to make displayed content appear as though it is floating in mid-air, while its transparency preserves a sense of openness within a room. This feature means it can be placed centrally or even in front of windows without causing significant visual disruption.
Tony Brown, General Manager, Home Entertainment Marketing and Content Business at LG Electronics ANZ, commented on the company's intentions for the television's local introduction:
"With the LG OLED T, we are showcasing the pinnacle of LG innovation, a powerful testament to our commitment to delivering new and better screen solutions in the home. Embodying our focus on smart life solutions, it's innovation that genuinely enhances the everyday, making life good by redefining how technology integrates beautifully into the Australian home."
The OLED T incorporates the brand's proprietary Zero Connect Box to handle media input and transmission, supporting visually lossless wireless video and audio transfer at 4K resolution and refresh rates up to 120Hz. This approach seeks to eliminate cable clutter while providing flexibility in television placement and design fit within a variety of living spaces.
Users are able to switch between transparent and opaque display modes. In addition to these core functions, LG has equipped the television with several new features intended to enhance daily living. T-Objet transforms the transparent screen into an "always-on" digital canvas, enabling the display of artwork, personal photos, or video in full colour even when the display is not in use. Meanwhile, the T-Bar feature offers a discrete ticker at the screen's edge, capable of providing information such as weather forecasts, sports scores, or music playback data without fully blocking whatever is behind the display. Access to settings, services and applications is managed through the new T-Home interface.
The television also supports compatibility with both NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium certifications, positioning it as a credible choice for gamers seeking a responsive, visually dynamic gaming experience. LG claims these features offer reduced screen tearing and stuttering, supporting the overall OLED picture quality standards for which its televisions have become measured in recent years.
The company points to over ten years of leadership in the OLED TV market globally in connection with the launch of the LG SIGNATURE OLED T, citing research by Omdia that has tracked twelve consecutive years as the number one selling OLED TV brand worldwide.
The LG SIGNATURE OLED T is listed locally at RRP $74,999, and is now available via LG's Australian distribution channels. Retailers remain free to set their own pricing for the device.
