Logitech G launches G522 headset with comfort & style focus

Yesterday

Logitech G has introduced the G522 Gaming Headset as the newest entry in its G5 series, targeting gamers seeking enhanced performance and customisation options.

The G522 builds upon the established platform of the popular G733 headset, featuring design revisions intended to offer an updated aesthetic and improved functionality. The G733's sharper contours have been replaced with smoother, more modern lines, reflecting a shift towards comfort and style for today's user.

"G522 was made for gamers who bring passion and personality to everything they do," said Ujesh Desai, Vice President and General Manager of Logitech G. "Whether you're climbing the ranks, streaming for your audience, or pulling all-night gaming sessions, the G522 ups your game with top-tier performance, features, and style."

According to Logitech G, a significant focus was placed on the physical comfort of the headset, considering feedback from the gaming community and accommodating various needs. The design now incorporates wider ear cups and an additional layer of memory foam, aiming to increase both comfort and cooling during prolonged use. The outer fabric has also been updated to improve softness and durability.

The suspension band has been reengineered to rest more evenly across the head, using increased breathability measures and upgraded materials to support durability during extended sessions. Fit tests considered users who wear glasses or earrings, with the goal of providing an accessible solution for a broad range of gamers.

Ahmed Riaz, Head of Design at Logitech G, commented, "The G522 headset is the result of meticulous craftsmanship and a relentless attention to detail, every element is intentionally designed to deliver a curated, premium experience. It builds on a proven formula for success that's become synonymous with our G5 Series products, combining precision engineering with a deep understanding of what today's gamers value most."

The G522 employs synchronised PRO-G drivers that deliver what Logitech G describes as its highest level of audio fidelity, supported by 48 kHz/24-bit digital signal processing. This setup is intended to enable users to discern subtle in-game noises such as distant footsteps or reloads with clarity.

For communication needs, the device features a 48 kHz/16-bit microphone, equipped with BLUE VO!CE technology. This integration allows users to adjust microphone audio using real-time filters and effects to optimise their voice quality, providing options for professional-sounding communication in competitive and social gaming scenarios.

The G522 supports tri-mode connectivity, offering LIGHTSPEED wireless, Bluetooth, and USB-C options, allowing users to switch between PC, console, and mobile platforms. Logitech G emphasises the lack of noticeable lag or transition issues when moving between different platforms.

Fine-tuning of the headset is possible through G HUB software and the Logitech G mobile app, which allows for adjustments to a 10-band EQ, personalisation of LIGHTSYNC RGB lighting, and mic configuration. The device also permits users to save up to three custom profiles on the headset directly.

The company highlights continued efforts to address environmental concerns, stating that the G522 is constructed with 27% post-consumer recycled plastic and incorporates low-carbon aluminium components.

The Logitech G522 Gaming Headset is available in black and white finishes for preorder at major electronics retailers, with a recommended retail price of AUD $299.95.
