Nick Kyrgios joins Activision for Verdansk map return

Fri, 28th Mar 2025

Tennis player Nick Kyrgios has teamed up with Activision as the return of the Verdansk map is announced for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 03.

The much-loved map, which first appeared in Call of Duty: Warzone in 2020, has been rebuilt and is set for re-release amidst a wave of nostalgia among fans.

In a recent interview, Kyrgios discussed his fond memories associated with Verdansk, notably during the global lockdowns of 2020. Reflecting on that period, Kyrgios said, "Verdansk and Warzone was the only thing that got me through 2020. I met people playing online throughout that time that are still some of my good mates."

Kyrgios expressed enthusiasm for the map's return in Black Ops 6 Season 03, acknowledging its significance to him and others who played it. "I can't believe it's coming back for Black Ops 6 Season 03. Honestly, it's gonna be epic. I've got so many people that I talk to about Call of Duty and like, the fact that it's coming back...it's pretty nuts."

During the interview, Kyrgios highlighted the sense of community that developed among players during the lockdowns, stating, "It was one cool thing about that time, we were so restricted with what we could do, and who we could see, so you kind of became close with the database of who you were playing with every day. You'd never met these people before, so they were kind of just like your crew when you went to play."

The announcement of Verdansk's return and Kyrgios's involvement with Activision is expected to resonate with game fans who recall the map's debut and its impact during a challenging time.
