Optoma launches high brightness UHC70LV projector

Wed, 23rd Jul 2025

Optoma has launched its latest home projector, the UHC70LV, which is described as the world's first Dolby-certified high brightness projector for residential use.

The Optoma UHC70LV model delivers up to 5000 lumens of brightness through a dual-laser system and is positioned at the premium end of the home entertainment market. The projector is equipped with a 4K UHD resolution, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ support to enhance picture quality and colour reproduction.

Display capabilities

The UHC70LV uses what Optoma calls its PureEngine Ultra image processing system. This technology provides what the company claims to be greater image enhancement, including precise colour and automatic dynamic adjustments. The projector incorporates auto-frame insertion to ensure smooth transitions during fast-paced scenes, while the PureDetail function employs artificial intelligence (AI) to sharpen image details.

According to Optoma, the dual-laser configuration achieves real colour accuracy at 95 per cent of the DCI-P3 standard, covering a wider colour gamut than previous models.

The projector also features a light source lifespan of up to 30,000 hours, offering consistent brightness and image quality over extended use.

Dolby certification

Dolby Vision technology within the UHC70LV allows the projector to optimise each frame for lifelike visuals. Optoma stated that this combination of brightness, contrast, and colour aims to deliver a viewing experience suitable for both home cinemas and gaming setups. The integration of HDR10+ improves dynamic scene-by-scene performance, adjusting colours and contrast in real time to show more visual detail and depth.

The UHC70LV integrates the latest generation PureEngineTM Ultra for enhanced visual performance, setting a new benchmark for innovation in high-quality projection capabilities.

The company explained that this marks a significant progression from the previous UHZ65LV and UHC66LV models, with improvements in brightness and colour reproduction.

Gaming features

For gaming users, the UHC70LV includes Automatic Low Latency Mode (ALLM). This feature automatically switches the projector to a low-latency setting, minimising input lag and ensuring smoother gameplay visuals without the need for manual adjustment.

This provides gamers with precise and responsive on-screen action, for an unparalleled immersive gaming experience.

Adaptable usage

The projector has been designed for flexible usage, supporting clear and detailed images whether operating in dark rooms or well-lit spaces. Optoma described the UHC70LV as able to transform any room into a cinema at any time of day, noting its suitability for various viewing environments unrestricted by light conditions.

Whether in a dark room or a well-lit living space, the UHC70LV delivers consistent visual details and depth, all day long. It redefines the concept of a home theatre by transforming any room into a 24-hour cinema, unrestricted by space and lighting conditions.

Details and pricing

Optoma has set the recommended retail price for the projector at AUD $7,999.

The UHC70LV is positioned as a flagship model within the brand's home projector range and is available through technology distributor Amber Technology.

The main improvements over previous projectors include the dual-laser operation, higher sustained brightness, enhanced colour accuracy, and two major high dynamic range (HDR) technologies tailored for cinema and gaming.

Optoma has outlined that the UHC70LV aims to serve both high-end home entertainment enthusiasts and gamers who require accurate colours, high brightness, and lower latency without compromise. The integration of Dolby certification, dual-laser technology, and AI-powered image processing are cited as key differentiators for the product within its segment.
