Samsung introduces Galaxy Ring to Australia for wellness tracking
Samsung has announced that its Galaxy Ring will be available in Australia from mid-October. The Galaxy Ring is Samsung's latest wearable technology, designed for continuous wellness monitoring and is set to be exclusively available on Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Stores. Australia is the first nation in the South-East Asia and Oceania region to receive this new device.
The Galaxy Ring was unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris alongside other new products, including the Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Watch7, and Galaxy Buds3 series. The ring is designed for extended wear with a focus on providing 24/7 wellness tracking. It features a lightweight and stylish concave design intended to enhance comfort during use.
The wearable device integrates its data into the Samsung Health application for users to access their wellness information seamlessly. Notably, it focuses on sleep analysis using advanced metrics and AI algorithms to provide more detailed insights into the user's sleep patterns. This is part of Samsung's effort to offer personalised wellness experiences through its Galaxy AI technology, which combines data and insights from the device.
The Galaxy Ring will be available in nine sizes, ranging from size 5 to size 13, and will come in three colours: Titanium Black, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Gold. To ensure users find a comfortable fit, Samsung is including a sizing kit with the purchase. Customers are advised to wear a sample ring, with the sensors facing up and the indicator on the palm side, for at least 24 hours to determine which size feels right.
According to the instructions provided, users should follow a few steps to select the appropriate size:
- Pick a size and try it on, ensuring the sensors are properly positioned and the indicator is on the palm side.
- Wear the ring throughout the day and night, as finger sizes may change. It's recommended to wear it for a full 24-hour period.
- If the ring feels comfortable after this period, that size is considered to be the user's Galaxy Ring size.
In addition to its sleep monitoring capabilities, the Galaxy Ring offers integration with the Samsung Health app enabling users to access their health data and receive personalised wellness recommendations. The app requires a smartphone with Android 11.0 or higher, at least 1.5GB memory, and the Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Health apps (version 6.27 or above).
While the Galaxy Ring provides in-depth wellness tracking, it is important to note that it is not intended for medical or therapeutic use. It aims to offer fitness and wellness insights and should not be used to diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical conditions. For those interested in the upcoming launch, Samsung is encouraging Australians to register their interest to be notified when the Galaxy Ring becomes available for sale.
