Cody Simpson named ambassador for Zeekr 7X all-electric SUV

Zeekr Australia has named Australian singer, athlete, and environmental advocate Cody Simpson as its official ambassador for the Zeekr 7X, the company's latest all-electric luxury SUV. The partnership comes as Zeekr expands its presence in Australia, aiming to attract customers interested in electric vehicles focused on sustainability and performance.

Strategic partnership

Simpson's appointment aligns with Zeekr's efforts to associate the Zeekr 7X with environmentally conscious lifestyles.

Simpson is known for both his musical achievements and his advocacy for marine conservation. He joins fellow ambassador, Australian UFC fighter Robert Whittaker, who represents the Zeekr 009 model.

Australian expansion

The introduction of the Zeekr 7X marks the brand's third model in Australia, joining the Zeekr X and Zeekr 009. The company reports strong early interest in the 7X, with over 3,000 pre-sale orders, including 1,000 within the first week of the model's availability.

The Zeekr 7X is targeted at customers seeking a high-performance, technology-equipped SUV suitable for modern families and active lifestyles. Zeekr's launch is part of wider efforts within the Geely Holding Group to increase electric vehicle adoption in key international markets.

Vehicle features

The Zeekr 7X is available in three main variants: Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), Long Range RWD, and Performance All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The entry-level model is priced at AUD $57,900, with the Long Range RWD at AUD $63,900, and the flagship Performance AWD at AUD $72,900, all excluding on-road costs.

The Performance AWD model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, while the Long Range RWD variant offers an estimated range of up to 615 km under WLTP standards. The 800V electrical architecture allows charging from 10% to 80% in as little as 13 minutes, and Zeekr claims the Golden Battery packs are installed beneath the cabin to increase space and handling stability.

The interior is equipped with a 16-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 36.2-inch augmented reality head-up display. Safety features include advanced driver assistance systems, and the SUV holds a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating with 91% adult occupant protection and 90% child occupant protection.

Market dynamics

Zeekr has established 12 dealers across Australia and continues to expand its local footprint. The brand's strategic focus in Australia reflects both growing consumer demand for electric vehicles and the global trend towards cleaner transportation solutions.
