Daikin unveils DeVap evaporator range for Australia
Daikin has launched a new evaporator line in Australia, expanding its local refrigeration offering and positioning itself to supply a complete package of core refrigeration equipment for commercial customers.
The range, called DeVap, adds evaporators to Daikin's existing condensing unit line-up. It extends the company's reach into supermarket refrigeration, hospitality, food processing, and healthcare cold-chain applications.
Local focus
Developed specifically for Australian conditions and common installation settings, DeVap is designed for dependable operation and practical unit layouts.
The development program included site visits across metropolitan and regional New South Wales and Queensland, including fish markets, supermarkets, meat wholesalers, delicatessens, wineries, liquor outlets, produce specialists and ice cream manufacturing facilities.
Daikin said this field work helped reflect local climate and operating conditions in the design, with humidity levels and day-to-day operating demands informing the final specifications.
Kevin Sultana, Refrigeration Sales Manager at Daikin Australia, said refrigeration is becoming a bigger local priority.
"Refrigeration is an important and growing focus for Daikin in Australia."
Daikin is pitching the expanded portfolio as a simpler procurement and installation option for contractors and end users who prefer matched equipment from a single supplier. It also pointed to financial pressure on operators and a stronger focus on ongoing running costs.
Product fit
DeVap is designed for both new installations and replacement projects, and integrates with Daikin's broader refrigeration portfolio, including its condensing units.
The range is also compatible with lower-global-warming-potential refrigerants used in commercial refrigeration, including R448A, R452A, and R513A.
Daikin said the design includes installer-focused features intended to improve accuracy during installation and commissioning, simplify servicing and reduce maintenance requirements over the unit's life.
The units were tested at Daikin's facilities in Japan, as part of its global refrigeration engineering operations. Daikin said the range reflects a focus on quality and long-term performance.
Use cases
Daikin said the compact unit design can improve space use in cold rooms and storage areas. It also stated that durable components are intended to ensure consistent operation and extend service life.
The range includes optional add-ons, including factory-fitted Carel EVD-ICE models, which Daikin said can reduce installation and commissioning time and improve energy efficiency. Another option is Blygold coil coating, which Daikin said can improve corrosion resistance in harsh or high-exposure environments.
Daikin said DeVap is suited to supermarkets, convenience stores, service stations, hospitality venues, liquor outlets, food processing facilities, delicatessens, butchers, and healthcare environments.
"By adding evaporators to our lineup, we can now deliver a more complete solution that reflects local operating conditions and the real-world needs of installers and business owners," Sultana said.
The DeVap evaporator range will be available across Australia from February 2026.
