Edifier T5s subwoofer debuts in Australia at AUD $289

Edifier has launched the T5s, an 8-inch subwoofer designed for home entertainment and desktop audio users who want more low-end output in a compact cabinet.

The T5s is available in black and is listed at Officeworks in Australia, with a recommended retail price of AUD $289.

It's positioned for everyday use across films, games, and music, particularly in smaller spaces such as apartments and home offices where a traditional home theatre subwoofer may be too large.

Product design

The T5s features an 8-inch long-throw woofer, a Class-D amplifier, and digital signal processing for filtering and integration with other speakers.

It is rated at 70W RMS total output power, with bass extension down to 35Hz.

Edifier also highlights control at higher playback levels, describing the bass as tight and designed to avoid distortion as volume increases.

Use cases

For film and TV, Edifier says the T5s can add weight to low-end effects while maintaining clarity in the rest of the soundtrack, including action scenes and other bass-heavy content.

Gaming is another focus, with the subwoofer pitched as a way to make environmental effects and impact cues more pronounced.

For music, the T5s is positioned for bass-led genres such as electronic and hip-hop, as well as orchestral recordings where low frequencies can add scale and depth when paired with smaller speakers.

The T5s includes an auto-standby mode that activates after 15 minutes without an audio signal and powers back on when audio resumes.

The enclosure uses a slim, vertical cabinet with a wood-grain vinyl finish intended to suit living rooms, bedrooms, and workspaces.
