Fri, 11th Jul 2025

The Huawei Watch GT 5 Series is now available in Australia, offering new smartwatch options for consumers, with features focused on health tracking, fitness, and design.

The series is available in both Pro and Standard editions, and comes in two sizes with a range of finishes designed for different preferences. The 46mm versions offer a battery life of up to 14 days while the 41mm models provide up to 7 days, depending on usage. Wireless fast charging ensures that just five minutes on the charger can deliver a full day of power.

Both iOS and Android devices are compatible with the new watches, offering users flexibility. The available finishes include Silver with a Brown Composite Leather or Blue Woven Strap, or Black with a Black Fluoroelastomer Strap for the 46mm models. The 41mm models are offered in Gold with a White Composite Leather Strap, or Silver with a Blue Fluoroelastomer Strap.

Materials have been selected for durability, as the devices are built with aerospace-grade components and rated IP69K for water and dust resistance. According to the manufacturer, these specifications allow the watch to be used in a range of environments, from daily commute to outdoor adventures.

Huawei's TruSenseTM System is included in the GT 5 Series, which is described as delivering smarter, more intuitive health tracking. TruSenseTM monitors over 60 health and fitness indicators, including vital signs and lifestyle metrics, providing users with insights to help them maintain control of their health. The watch's Emotional Wellbeing Assistant monitors mood and stress, offers guided breathing, visualises emotional trends, and provides tailored sleep and fitness recommendations based on emotional and wellbeing data.

Pro-level sleep monitoring is also available, enabling users to track key health indicators related to sleep and support improved rest and recovery. Menstrual Cycle Management is available for women, offering symptom tracking and cycle prediction.

The Watch GT 5 Series includes several fitness-focused features. Running Form Analysis provides real-time feedback to help users improve their running technique and efficiency, and reduce injury risk. Outdoor tracking accuracy is enhanced by the Sunflower Positioning System, which uses satellite-based technology for route tracking.

The RouteDraw feature enables users to pre-plan or freestyle workout routes, adding a creative dimension to outdoor exercise while retaining accurate GPS navigation.

For cyclists, the Cycling Mode monitors real-time statistics, including heart rate, speed, distance, and calories burned. It allows integration with a power meter, turning a user's smartphone into a cycling computer.

The Pro edition also features specialised features. Golfers can access over 15,000 global 3D course maps - including more than 1,400 in Australia - using Golf Course Mode. This function provides details of fairways, distance measurements, and real-time score tracking.

The Freediving Mode on the Pro model is designed for underwater use at depths of up to 40 metres. It offers features such as a hover timer, water type detection, and safety reminders.

Pricing for the new series begins at AUD $429.00 for the Watch GT 5 46mm and 41mm models, up to AUD $799.00 for the Watch GT 5 42mm Pro. During the Amazon Prime Day sale period, discounts of up to 20% are available, with models starting from AUD $289.00.

The Watch GT 5 Series is available now from Amazon and JB Hi-Fi, with sale prices running for a limited time during Amazon Prime Day, subject to availability and conditions.
