Logitech launches Alto Keys K98M keyboard in Australia amid rising demand

Thu, 4th Dec 2025

Logitech has released its Alto Keys K98M mechanical keyboard in Australia, responding to increasing local demand for customisable productivity tools. The device, initially available in China and some Asian markets, marks an expansion of Logitech's portfolio for enthusiasts and professional users seeking mechanical key switches and workspace personalisation.

Growing demand

The global market for mechanical keyboards has experienced notable growth over the past two years. Reports indicate a 61% jump in demand, with market valuations expected to rise from USD $3.21 billion in 2024 to nearly USD $6.13 billion by 2033. This shift reflects a wider trend as mechanical keyboards move out of a niche and into everyday corporate and personal use, primarily due to user interest in tactile feedback and customisation options.

Product features

The Alto Keys K98M features a 98-key compact layout with a number pad, designed to suit limited desktop space without compromising on functionality. Logitech's proprietary UniCushion gasket-mounted design underpins the typing experience, absorbing vibrations and producing what the company describes as a softer, richer acoustic profile.

Marble Switches, which are hot-swappable, allow users to exchange or customise the feel and sound of their keyboard as preferences change. Other specifications include high-quality PBT keycaps, a translucent frame with white backlighting, and multi-operating system compatibility for Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS.

Customisation focus

Alto Keys K98M ships with AI-powered personalisation features, integrated through the Logi Options+ app. This allows users to reassign keys, automate tasks, or access AI tools. The keyboard has an easy-switch function that enables users to pair the device with up to three devices simultaneously. A rechargeable battery provides up to 12 months of wireless use, with the option to recharge during operation if needed.

The keyboard's design incorporates lifestyle elements such as clean lines, a translucent chassis, and subtle backlighting, which aims to combine aesthetics with daily utility. Function keys and a dedicated AI launch key add further flexibility for power users.

Sustainability measures

Logitech indicates the Alto Keys K98M was developed with sustainability as a priority. The product uses recycled plastic in its construction, with varying recycled content depending on colour: 25% for graphite, 19% for off-white, and 10% for lilac. Its paper packaging comes from FSC-certified forests and other controlled sources. These steps are in line with broader industry efforts to reduce carbon footprints and promote circular use of materials.

Market positioning

Mechanical keyboards are becoming increasingly common both in office environments and among remote workers. The Alto Keys K98M is positioned to appeal to users who value comfort, aesthetics, and workflow personalisation, as well as those seeking enhanced durability from their hardware.

"People want their workspace to be more than functional, they want it to inspire them. With Alto Keys K98M, we set out to create a mechanical keyboard that feels personal and expressive, not just practical. From the satisfying sound and feel of each keystroke to the ability to swap keys and make it your own, Alto Keys transforms an everyday tool into something that brings joy, creativity, and focus back to the desk," said Art O'Gnimh, General Manager of Core Products Group, Logitech.
