Motorola launches new moto g56 5G & g86 power 5G in Australia

Motorola has released two new mid-range smartphones in Australia, expanding its moto g series with the introduction of the moto g56 5G and the moto g86 power 5G.

Durability and entertainment focus

Both devices are designed with durability in mind, featuring military-grade toughness and IP68/69 water and dust protection. The build incorporates damage-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass, intended to increase protection against drops and scratches. The company states that these features enable the devices to withstand various everyday challenges and environmental conditions.

Each model comes equipped with a 6.7-inch ultra-bright display, aiming to provide an immersive visual experience suitable for a range of uses including media consumption, video calls, and social networking. Dolby Atmos audio enhances the entertainment experience, paired with stereo speakers and Bass Boost for the moto g56 5G.

moto g86 power 5G

The moto g86 power 5G is targeted at users seeking extended battery life and device resilience. Its 6720mAh battery is Motorola's largest to date, claiming up to 53 hours of use on a single charge. The phone uses a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor for general performance and is paired with up to 8GB of RAM, with the possibility to expand to 24GB through RAM Boost. Storage is set at up to 128GB.

The device is certified to MIL-STD-810H, indicating resistance to a variety of environmental stresses such as extreme temperatures, pressure variations, and drops. The device is protected with Gorilla Glass 7i to reduce the risk of display damage.

The 6.7-inch Super HD display supports 10-bit colour depth and over a billion shades, while the main camera system features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor with optical image stabilisation and support from moto ai, intended to optimise image capture in different conditions.

Other integrated features include moto Unplugged, which promotes focused usage by reducing distractions, and moto Secure, designed to centralise privacy and security settings for the user.

The moto g56 5G seeks to balance style and functionality. Its physical design utilises a soft, premium finish, and it carries the same ratings for water and dust resistance as its counterpart. Gorilla Glass 7i is used for the display, with Motorola claiming three times better drop protection than the previous generation.

The display is a 6.7-inch FHD+ screen that supports high-brightness viewing, and audio features include stereo speakers, Bass Boost, and Dolby Atmos.

The rear camera array comprises a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor with moto ai enhancements and Quad Pixel technology, plus an ultrawide lens. The front camera is a 32MP unit for higher resolution selfies.

Performance is managed by the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 processor, with a 5200mAh battery designed to last throughout the day. TurboPower 30 charging promises a day's charge in approximately 36 minutes. Storage is set at 256GB for the main variant, and supports microSD cards up to 1TB.

Availability and pricing

The moto g56 5G will be available in two configurations in Australia. The 8GB/256GB model is priced at AUD $399, and is offered in Pantone Black Oyster and Pantone Gray Mist via major electronics retailers. A 4GB/128GB version, priced at AUD $299, will be available through selected mobile carriers. The moto g86 power 5G will be sold in Pantone Cosmic Sky and Pantone Spellbound Gray, at a recommended retail price of AUD $499.

Both devices are intended to offer Australian consumers a combination of resilience, battery endurance, and multimedia features at under AUD $500.
