Ricoh launches high-speed A3 printers with eco-friendly design
Ricoh has announced the release of two new high-speed A3 colour multifunction printers, the IM C7010 and IM C8010, intended to handle demanding workloads and support modern workplace requirements.
The IM C7010 and IM C8010 expand Ricoh's range of intelligent multifunction printers (MFPs), offering productivity, usability, and sustainability benefits. These devices are positioned to help businesses enhance their in-house printing with equipment designed for efficient and environmentally conscious operations.
Market demand
Sul Koralege, Product Manager at Ricoh Australia, noted a recent shift in enterprise printing needs. "We've seen a trend towards the high-volume segment in recent years," Koralege stated. "More businesses are now looking for a centralised colour MFP that can consolidate several smaller desktop printers and larger black-and-white devices with a single powerhouse all-in-one device. That demand for high-volume, space-efficient solutions is exactly what the IM C7010 and IM C8010 were designed to meet."
The IM C7010 builds upon Ricoh's IM C10 series, which was introduced in 2023 and recognised for its interface, security, and cloud-based management capabilities. The IM C7010 extends print speeds up to 70 pages per minute (ppm) while maintaining the features of the earlier series. Notably, it introduces in-built document stapling without the need for an external finisher - an attribute not commonly found in this segment - allowing businesses to save space while achieving professional document finishing.
Feature details
The IM C8010 stands at the top of Ricoh's office printer lineup, delivering up to 80ppm and offering further improvements to document finishing and sustainability. Both devices provide print, copy, scan, and optional fax functionalities, supporting colour print resolutions up to 2,400 x 4,800 dots per inch, which are suited to enterprise settings and managed print services.
Highlighting the IM C8010's environmental credentials, Ricoh says it advances the company's sustainable design goals, with the printer incorporating 33% post-consumer recycled plastic and 32% recycled steel content. Other sustainability features include assembly using 100% renewable energy, improved power efficiency with a 37% reduction in Energy Saver Mode, and a 5% reduction in overall carbon footprint. The IM C8010 is recognised with Energy Star certification and the EPEAT Gold rating.
Koralege explained Ricoh's broader workplace technology strategy in relation to these new products:
"These new MFPs form an essential part of Ricoh's evolving workplace technology portfolio and reinforce our commitment to delivering advanced solutions that help customers digitise and streamline their operations. Both models introduce innovative new hardware and unique finishing capabilities, along with secure access to cloud services and digital workflows - enabling users to work more efficiently and seamlessly in a connected world"
The IM C7010 is Ricoh's first office-style A3 colour MFP at 70ppm and enables document stapling without requiring an external unit. The IM C8010, meanwhile, introduces new capabilities in document finishing and is built to meet enhanced environmental standards set by the company.
Productivity and security
Both models are equipped with Ricoh's third-generation 10.1-inch Smart Operation Panel, which runs on an upgraded Android operating system and offers a consistent interface across devices. Productivity is bolstered with a new Single Pass Document Feeder (SPDF) capable of scanning up to 300 images per minute. The IM C8010 includes a new feature that automatically corrects paper alignment and provides AI-powered orientation detection.
Security remains a prominent aspect of the design, with the devices running on Ricoh's Always Current Technology platform. The inclusion of Android OS 10 and WPA3 authentication strengthens Wi-Fi security, and built-in TPM 2.0 hardware module supports secure operations from deployment to end-of-life.
Sustainability commitments
Ricoh has emphasised the energy efficiency and environmental impact of the new printers. The IM C7010 is listed with a 50% recycled plastics ratio, environmentally friendly packaging, and low typical electricity consumption. The IM C8010 builds on this approach with its use of renewable energy during assembly and energy-saving features.
Digital workflow integration
Both devices support RICOH Smart Integration, enabling customisation with cloud apps and workflow solutions, and allowing businesses to reduce reliance on manual processes. They also support Microsoft Modern Authentication and integrate with Ricoh's cloud platforms for scanning and document management.
Koralege commented on the purpose and capabilities of the new range, stating, "These new A3 MFPs offer exceptional performance, advanced security, and cloud-based capabilities to support digital-first work environments where high volume and high print speed are key requirements in today's Australian enterprises."
