RØDE adds Bluetooth Direct Connect to Wireless GO, PRO
RØDE has enabled Direct Connect Bluetooth pairing on its Wireless GO (Gen 3) and Wireless PRO microphone systems, allowing transmitters to connect directly to iOS devices without a separate receiver.
The feature works through the RØDE Capture app and lets users pair Wireless GO (Gen 3) and Wireless PRO transmitters with iPhones over Bluetooth. Direct Connect first appeared on the Wireless Micro.
RØDE describes the update as a free firmware addition aimed at creators who record on phones and want a simpler mobile setup.
CEO Damien Wilson said the feature drew a strong response on earlier hardware.
"We've already witnessed the incredible impact Direct Connect has had on creators using the Wireless Micro. Since launch, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, allowing creators more flexibility and versatility than ever before. It's our duty as pioneers of the ultra-compact wireless microphone category to extend true wireless freedom to as many creators as possible. With Direct Connect now available on more RØDE systems, we're delivering exactly that."
Recording Options
Direct Connect retains the existing recording options in the RØDE Capture app. Users can record in merged mode or split mode. Merged mode combines audio from two transmitters into a single stereo track, while split mode records each transmitter to its own channel.
The app also includes output gain control for adjusting levels during recording.
This Bluetooth workflow changes how some users can deploy Wireless GO (Gen 3) and Wireless PRO. Traditionally, a receiver connects to a phone, camera, or computer; Direct Connect removes that step for iPhone recording when using the app.
Wireless GO (Gen 3)
Wireless GO (Gen 3) is the third generation of RØDE's Wireless GO line and part of the company's Series IV wireless ecosystem. It uses Series IV 2.4GHz digital transmission.
The system includes 32-bit float on-board recording and 32GB of internal storage, along with a feature called GainAssist.
Wireless GO (Gen 3) is available in multiple colours, allowing creators to achieve different on-camera looks.
Wireless PRO
Wireless PRO sits at the higher end of the range and targets filmmakers and professional creators. It also runs within the Series IV ecosystem and is compatible with RØDECaster Pro II, RØDECaster Duo, and RØDECaster Video.
Wireless PRO adds timecode sync for aligning audio with video in post-production, and RØDE quotes an extended 260m line-of-sight range.
With Direct Connect, Wireless PRO can record to an iPhone without the receiver, which may suit lightweight shoots or phone-first production.
Pricing And Availability
The Direct Connect update follows recent price reductions across both products: 33% for Wireless GO (Gen 3) and 25% for Wireless PRO.
Wireless GO (Gen 3) is priced at USD $199, while Wireless PRO is priced at USD $299. Both ship worldwide.
Direct Connect is available through the RØDE Capture app and a free firmware update, extending the feature across more of RØDE's wireless microphone range.
