RØDE unveils RØDECaster Video Core console at USD $599
RØDE has launched the RØDECaster Video Core, a compact production console that combines video switching, recording and streaming with an integrated audio mixer. It also introduced RØDECaster Sync, which links the new unit with selected RØDECaster audio consoles via USB-C.
The Video Core joins the RØDECaster Video range and targets creators who run modular setups or prefer software-driven production. In a desktop-friendly form factor, it supports multi-camera switching and scene-based production.
RØDECaster Sync connects the Video Core with the RØDECaster Pro II and RØDECaster Duo, creating a combined control surface for managing audio and video. Used together, the devices also gain additional inputs and outputs.
"The launch of the RØDECaster Video Core and RØDECaster Sync marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of content creation," said Damien Wilson, CEO of RØDE.
"With the RØDECaster range, every creator, no matter their skill level or workflow, is supported by a complete ecosystem that makes professional production more accessible than ever. As always, RØDE continues to set the industry benchmark for tearing down barriers to democratise content creation worldwide."
Video switching
The RØDECaster Video Core switches between up to four video sources and supports five customisable scenes. It includes three Full HD HDMI inputs with auto frame rate conversion. A configurable HDMI output offers monitoring modes including program, preview and multi-view.
Two USB-C ports support selected video and audio devices, and the unit can output video directly to a computer via UVC. It also records to external USB storage, including SSDs.
Over Ethernet, the console supports up to four NDI inputs and one NDI output for network cameras, plus PTZ control for compatible cameras.
Audio controls
For audio capture, the Video Core includes two Neutrik combo jacks and uses RØDE's Revolution Preamps for microphones, instruments and other line sources. It provides nine stereo audio channels.
APHEX processing is built into the audio path, with EQ, compressor, noise gate, high-pass filter and de-esser functions. Effects include Aural Exciter, Big Bottom and Compellor.
The unit also offers intelligent auto-switching based on audio inputs, enabling hands-free switching of video sources and scenes when audio changes.
Software workflow
RØDE positions the RØDECaster App as the control layer for software-led production. It handles source switching, scene design and audio mixing, and supports graphics, media assignment, transitions and configuration.
The Video Core includes media playback and keying for live production, supporting multi-source scenes and graphic overlays within its scene workflow.
For post-production, it supports EDL export for DaVinci Resolve, including switch, transition, graphic and timeline data.
Creator setups
The unit supports streaming over Ethernet to major platforms and direct recording to external USB storage. Isolated recording captures each video and audio source independently for later editing.
It also works with the RØDE Capture app for iOS, allowing an iPhone to act as a dual-camera source. This adds a wireless, multi-angle option for interviews, podcasts and solo productions.
The console includes dual USB-C audio interfaces, allowing connections to two computers or mobile devices at once, which is useful for creators running separate systems for streaming, recording, or remote calls.
Firmware updates
RØDE has also announced firmware updates across the RØDECaster series. The RØDECaster Video range gains EDL timeline export for DaVinci Resolve, designed to preserve edit structure, timing and clip arrangement.
Another update adds compressed UVC input and MJPEG support to broaden compatibility with USB cameras. A further update introduces flexible media import for non-standard resolutions and aspect ratios, including vertical and square video.
The RØDECaster Duo also receives an update that increases the total number of audio channels from seven to nine, matching the RØDECaster Pro II. Wireless inputs no longer replace combo inputs, allowing simultaneous use of XLR inputs and wireless receivers.
Pricing and availability
The RØDECaster Video Core is listed at USD $599 and is set for worldwide shipping. The firmware updates are available through the RØDECaster App.
The RØDECaster Video Core is designed and made at RØDE's facilities in Sydney, Australia.
