Samsung’s Premiere 5 projector arrives in Australia at AUD $2,999
Samsung Australia has announced the local pricing and availability of its first interactive triple-laser ultra-short-throw projector, The Premiere 5 (LPF5D), as part of its 2025 projector line-up.
The device is available nationwide through Samsung's Online Store and leading retailers, including Harvey Norman, at an RRP of AUD $2,999.
Features and functionality
The Premiere 5 is designed for home use and features interactive touch floor projection capabilities when mounted on a dedicated stand.
This enables touch-based operation, transforming a table or the floor into an interactive screen up to 20 inches in size for activities such as smartphone games, art, films, and more. Without the stand, users can project content in vivid colours across screen sizes ranging from 40 inches to 100 inches thanks to its ultra-short-throw design.
The stand is equipped with an infrared camera and laser module to facilitate these interactive features.
According to Samsung, "The Premiere 5 can transform the table or the floor it is being projected on into an interactive touch screen, enabling the family to engage in smartphone games, art, movies and more in up to 20-inches."
The projector runs Samsung's SmartThings and offers access to Samsung TV Plus, Gaming Hub, Q-Symphony, and Custom Ambient Mode.
The inclusion of MultiView and a web browser extends its utility from entertainment to education and business applications.
Design and setup
The compact form of The Premiere 5 is designed for portability and seamless integration into a variety of home environments. Its ultra-short-throw capability means it can be placed as close as 12cm from a wall to project a large image, allowing for easier setup in limited spaces. Setting up is aided by features such as auto keystone and auto-focus.
Seamless smartphone integration is available via the SmartThings app or Apple AirPlay 2, letting users mirror content from compatible devices. Samsung states, "Seamless smartphone integration allows Australians to simply mirror content from the handheld device via SmartThings or Apple AirPlay 2 so the family can enjoy the content on a bigger screen."
Display and audio
The core of the projector is Samsung's triple-laser technology, which aims to deliver a wide spectrum of colours and high contrast with minimal blur. The system also includes a built-in Vision Booster, which automatically adjusts colour, contrast and brightness depending on ambient light conditions, supporting use in rooms with varying lighting.
Audio is managed by a 10W 2-channel integrated speaker system, with Q-Symphony enabling synchronisation with compatible Samsung soundbars. The Premiere 5 can function as a standalone wireless speaker, with audio available via Bluetooth connection or music casting. It supports playback from various streaming services, though some limitations apply depending on the platform.
Smart features
For users interested in connected home functionality, The Premiere 5 acts as a hub for compatible Samsung and third-party devices through SmartThings. It enables users to monitor electricity usage, control lighting, receive notifications for appliances such as washing machines, and view home cameras from the projector interface.
The projector provides access to over 300 free channels via the Samsung TV Plus platform, and the integrated Gaming Hub offers access to gaming platforms and services with low latency for smooth performance. Custom Ambient Mode leverages the Projecting Mapping Solution to display dynamic images, helping users customise the ambiance of a room.
Market positioning
"The Premiere 5 is designed to go beyond content to deliver immersive, engaging and memorable experiences that bring people together or support productivity in new ways," said Simon Howe, Director – Audio Visual, Samsung Australia. "By combining Samsung's big screen picture quality with a compact design and user-centric functionality, we are providing Australians with more screen options that enable them to use their screen tailored to the way that suits their needs."
The Premiere 5 joins the brand's broader 2025 projector range, which includes The Premiere 7, The Premiere 9, and The Freestyle. The release expands Samsung's presence in the premium home projector segment, offering features tailored to entertainment and productivity in domestic settings.
