Samsung unveils Odyssey OLED G6 with 500Hz refresh in Australia
Samsung has announced the Australian launch of its Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SF), which is now available for pre-order and will be released nationwide in August 2025.
The Odyssey OLED G6 marks Samsung's entry into the 500Hz OLED gaming monitor sector. The monitor features a 27-inch screen with QHD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution and is powered by QD-OLED technology. It is priced with a recommended retail price of AUD $1,699, although final pricing will be determined by individual dealers.
Technical specifications
According to Samsung, the Odyssey OLED G6 offers a 500Hz refresh rate and a response time of 0.03ms (grey-to-grey). These specifications are intended to provide gamers with fluid, responsive visual performance, particularly in fast-paced and competitive titles. The refresh rate and response time are based on internal testing, and may vary depending on the input source and monitor settings.
The display is also certified with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500, which Samsung states supports vivid colours and deep black levels. Certification is based on a 10% average picture level and a peak brightness that typically reaches 1,000 nits under specified conditions. The monitor's peak brightness is achieved with HDR enabled, an average picture level set to 3%, and peak brightness set to "High".
The monitor supports NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible technology, which requires an appropriate NVIDIA graphics card and the activation of variable refresh rate settings in both the monitor and graphics card driver.
Features focused on gaming
In addition to speed and display performance, the Odyssey OLED G6 includes several features designed for extended gaming sessions. It incorporates Samsung's Glare Free technology, which has been independently verified to minimise reflection, discomfort, and disability glare, according to UL Solutions.
The monitor is also equipped with OLED Safeguard+, designed to minimise the risk of burn-in during prolonged use. Pantone validation ensures colour accuracy, with the monitor capable of displaying over 2,000 colours and more than 110 SkinTone shades from Pantone's library.
Statements from Samsung
Neal Elliott, Acting Head of Pro-Display at Samsung Electronics Australia, commented on the launch:
"Samsung continues to lead the gaming monitor industry with breakthrough innovations that redefine how games are experienced. With the Odyssey OLED G6, Samsung's first 500Hz OLED gaming monitor, we are pushing gaming performance, visual quality and immersion to entirely new heights - delivering the next evolution of display technology for Australian gamers."
The combination of a high refresh rate, rapid response time, true-to-life colour reproduction, and certifications for HDR and glare reduction are presented as means to ensure reliable visual quality and performance throughout extended periods of use.
Availability and pricing
The Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SF) is now available for pre-order via Samsung's Australian website, and will become available in stores across Australia from August 2025. The recommended retail price is AUD $1,699, although actual pricing may vary depending on the retailer.
Samsung states that the monitor's specifications are intended to offer a competitive edge to gamers, supporting fast, responsive play and minimising distractions from screen reflections or display artefacts.
The Odyssey OLED G6 is positioned as part of Samsung's broader strategy in the gaming monitor sector, building on its previous market performance and ongoing development of OLED gaming displays.
