Sony launches BRAVIA Theatre gear & TV in Australia
Sony has launched new BRAVIA Theatre home audio products and the BRAVIA 3 II television in Australia.
The release expands its home entertainment range with new soundbars, speakers, subwoofers and a television model.
The line-up includes two soundbars - the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 7 and BRAVIA Theatre Bar 5 - plus three optional audio products: the BRAVIA Theatre Sub 9, BRAVIA Theatre Sub 8 and BRAVIA Theatre Rear 9.
Sony also introduced the BRAVIA 3 II, a mid-range television available in sizes up to 100 inches, aimed at households seeking a larger screen for a home cinema set-up.
Audio range
The BRAVIA Theatre Bar 7 is a single soundbar with nine speaker units, including up-firing and side speakers, and supports optional add-on subwoofers and rear speakers.
The BRAVIA Theatre Bar 5 is a 3.1-channel system with a wireless subwoofer, aimed at buyers seeking a balance between price and audio performance.
Both soundbars support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. They can also pair with compatible BRAVIA televisions, letting users control soundbar settings from the TV menu and use Sony's Voice Zoom 3 dialogue feature.
The products also work with the BRAVIA Connect app, which lets users adjust volume, sound profiles and other settings from a smartphone.
Speaker options
The optional BRAVIA Theatre Sub 9 is a wireless subwoofer with dual opposing drivers, while the BRAVIA Theatre Sub 8 is a standard wireless subwoofer with a 200mm driver unit. Both support dual-subwoofer use for the first time in the BRAVIA Theatre series.
The BRAVIA Theatre Rear 9 is a pair of wireless rear speakers with an 80mm up-firing speaker, designed to improve rear-channel sound in compatible systems.
Television details
Alongside the audio products, the BRAVIA 3 II adds another option to Sony's television range. It uses the XR Processor and XR Triluminos Pro, and supports Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.
The television also supports 4K 120Hz and includes four HDMI 2.1 ports, placing it in the segment for customers who also use their screens for gaming.
Sony developed the BRAVIA 3 II in cooperation with MediaTek, combining Sony image processing with MediaTek smart TV hardware. The aim is to reduce content-dependent noise and improve picture detail.
Accessibility focus
The BRAVIA 3 II will ship with a redesigned Inclusive Remote Control, developed using user feedback and featuring changes to button shape, spacing and tactile navigation.
The television also includes a Remote Finder function intended to help users locate the handset more easily, including people with visual disabilities.

The BRAVIA Theatre Bar 7, BRAVIA Theatre Bar 5, BRAVIA Theatre Sub 9, BRAVIA Theatre Sub 8 and BRAVIA Theatre Rear 9 are due to be available in Australia from July 2026.
