Sony unveils new wireless turntables for Australia

Fri, 23rd Jan 2026

Sony has added two wireless turntables to its audio range, with the PS-LX3BT and PS-LX5BT set for release in Australia at AUD $469 and AUD $599. The PS-LX3BT targets newcomers to vinyl, while the PS-LX5BT is positioned as a step-up model for more focused listening.

Shared Features

Both models offer one-button, fully automatic playback and Bluetooth connectivity, supporting aptX, aptX-Adaptive, and Hi-Res Wireless Audio. Listeners can also use a wired connection. Each turntable includes a USB output and three-level gain control for recording vinyl to digital formats, a cartridge, an aluminium platter, a transparent dust cover, and support for 33⅓ and 45 RPM playback for 7-inch and 12-inch records. Both arrive in recycled packaging.

PS-LX3BT

The PS-LX3BT is an entry-level model with a refined aesthetic design suitable for everyday spaces. It includes an attached audio cable and a built-in phono equaliser. Sony describes the model as delivering "warm analogue sound with smooth tracking" and calls it "Perfect for newcomers to vinyl or those seeking a simple, lifestyle-friendly setup."

PS-LX5BT

The PS-LX5BT is a higher-priced option with design enhancements aimed at sound performance. It features a rigid one-piece body, an aluminium tone arm, a rubber mat, and circuit design improvements to suppress unwanted vibration and preserve "audio purity." The turntable includes a "high-grade cartridge" that delivers "rich sound with a wide soundstage," and a gold-plated audio jack for wired connections.

Pricing and Availability

The PS-LX3BT and PS-LX5BT will be available in Australia from mid-February 2026 at AUD $469 and AUD $599, respectively.

Both models arrive in recycled packaging, reflecting Sony's "ongoing commitment to sustainability."
