Beats debuts reinforced charging cables in Australia market
Beats has announced the release of its first collection of reinforced charging cables, available in Australia in a range of lengths, configurations and colours.
The newly launched product line, called Beats Cables, features a tangle-free woven design aimed at increasing durability and preventing fraying. The cables are available for order in the Australian market in four colour options: Bolt Black, Surge Stone, Nitro Navy, and Rapid Red. Pricing has been set at AUD $28.95 for a single cable and AUD $54.95 for a pack of two.
The cables are offered in two lengths: 1.5 metres and 20 centimetres (8 inches). The assortment provides several connector configurations to suit a variety of devices and usage needs, including USB-C to USB-C, USB-A to USB-C, and USB-C to Lightning. Power adapters are not included with the purchase.
Chris Thorne, Chief Marketing Officer at Beats, commented, "From bold colours and packaging to bringing product features to life with the Pill People campaign, we're energising this category in true Beats fashion."
Beats has revived its "Pill People" campaign to mark the launch, with the advertising spot highlighting key cable features and uses. The campaign features the voices of comedians Ben Marshall, Desi Banks and Megan Stalter.
Regarding technical compatibility, the USB-C to USB-C cable supports charging, syncing, audio, CarPlay, and data transfers for USB-C Apple and Android devices. It is also capable of charging USB-C compatible Beats headphones and speakers while streaming or listening to audio, including lossless content. Fast charging is supported at up to 60 watts when used with relevant hardware, and data transfer occurs at USB 2.0 rates. Pairing the USB-C cable with a USB-C power adapter allows users to charge compatible devices efficiently from a wall outlet.
The USB-A to USB-C option supports charging, syncing, CarPlay, and data transfer. Fast charging for select iPhone and iPad models can reach up to 15 watts, with USB 2.0 data rates.
USB-C to Lightning cables are available for iOS and iPadOS devices that use Lightning ports, providing charging, syncing, and CarPlay compatibility, as well as fast charging on selected Apple devices.
Beats Cables come in various configurations and colourways. The USB-C to USB-C (1.5 m) cable is offered in all four colours, while the USB-A to USB-C (1.5 m) and USB-C to Lightning (1.5 m) are currently available in Bolt Black, Surge Stone, and Rapid Red. The Nitro Navy colour is currently exclusive to the USB-C to USB-C cable. The two-pack option is available for USB-C to USB-C and USB-A to USB-C cables in Bolt Black. Shorter (20 cm) options are available in Bolt Black across all three configurations. The release notes that Rapid Red will be introduced in winter for USB-A to USB-C (1.5 m) and USB-C to Lightning (1.5 m) cables.
Beats has indicated that environmental considerations were incorporated into the design of the product packaging, which is made from 100% plant-based material sourced from recycled fibre and sustainable forests.
Beats Cables are now available for order in the Australian market for AUD $28.95 (1.5 metres or 20 centimetres) and AUD $54.95 (a 1.5-meter two-pack, either USB-C to USB-C or USB-A to USB-C) online. They are expected to be available for purchase in retail stores from April 18.
