BenQ unveils PD series monitors for design professionals
BenQ has introduced two new monitors in its PD Designer Monitor Series aimed at meeting the specific needs of design professionals and artists.
The company has launched the 27-inch 5K PD2730S and 32-inch 4K 144Hz PD3226G monitors, which feature colour accuracy and advanced colour management solutions tailored for 3D artists, VFX animators, concept designers and game designers. These monitors are engineered to enhance workflow efficiency and support users in producing detailed and realistic visual content.
"As a leader in display technology, we understand the unique needs of Australian content creators, and the PD series has been designed with those needs in mind," said Shawn Zheng, Head of Division - B2C, BenQ Australia. "We are incredibly excited to release our first ever 5K monitor as well as a professional design monitor that is compatible with thunderbolt 4, which aligns with recent developments of the technology around us. We're proud to bring this innovative professional line-up to the market and can't wait to see how our content creation community embraces it."
The PD2730S monitor offers 5K resolution, a 218 PPI pixel density, and a 2000:1 contrast ratio to provide detailed clarity and enhanced shadow details. Both the PD2730S and PD3226G monitors include features for improved dark tone reproduction, enabling detailed and rich gaming visuals.
BenQ's PD3226G monitor is described as the world's first 4K 144Hz colour accuracy monitor, incorporating Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology for clear motion clarity. This monitor design aims to balance high refresh rates with colour accuracy to support seamless scrolling and vivid animations.
The company notes the significance of the 144Hz monitor in allowing game designers to test their work against consumer-used monitors, underscoring its relevance in the growing gaming industry. The PD Series utilises BenQ AQCOLOR technology, designed to provide colour accuracy straight out of the box alongside comprehensive colour management for professional settings.
To cater to advancements in technology, both monitors integrate advanced Mac-compatible features to enhance productivity and streamline workflows. Equipped with Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, PD Series monitors support fast data, image, and video transfer, compatible with dual 5K or single 8K displays, consistent with recent Apple advancements.
Additionally, these monitors come with an integrated KVM switch for convenient control over dual systems, facilitating management between PC and Mac workflows. BenQ Display Pilot 2 software offers customised interface functions to augment workflow management.
In alignment with BenQ's environmental commitments, the monitors are built using 85% Post-Consumer Recycled materials and are packaged in recyclable cardboard to minimise environmental impact. They also incorporate energy-saving features, such as automatic shutdown after periods of inactivity.
Enhanced features of these monitors include 98% and 95% P3 colour spaces for PD2730S and PD3226G respectively, Delta E values equal to or less than 2, and ergonomic design qualities.
