Discovery Education launches DoodleLearning apps in Australia
Discovery Education has introduced its DoodleLearning maths and English programmes to parents, teachers, and students throughout Australia.
The DoodleLearning apps, which cover maths and English for children aged two to 14, have been utilised by over one million children in the UK and internationally. Discovery Education states that the apps are designed to improve academic progression through personalised learning pathways and are intended for use both in the classroom and at home.
There are currently four applications available under the DoodleLearning banner. DoodleMaths utilises adaptive technology to help children build confidence and ability in mathematics, aiming to equip them with fundamental numeracy skills. DoodleEnglish functions as a grammar, punctuation, spelling, and comprehension app with a wide range of interactive exercises, intended to explore language skills in an accessible way.
DoodleSpell focuses on developing spelling proficiency by helping children understand word meanings and usage within sentences, aiming to provide a solid foundation for school learning. DoodleTables offers interactive, curriculum-aligned multiplication practice to assist students in mastering their times tables.
Discovery Education has highlighted that the programmes are 'created by teachers for teachers' and are designed to be used 'little and often', which the company says is an approach that can significantly improve student confidence and academic progress. The company also notes that the Doodle apps operate across all devices and can be accessed offline, which it suggests may be useful for families and schools with busy schedules or limited connectivity.
Michael Savitz, Discovery Education's General Manager, International, said, "Discovery Education is excited to bring our four DoodleLearning apps to educators, parents and students across Australia. We've seen tremendous benefits wherever Doodle is used – whether in the classroom or at home – and look forward to supporting the continued academic progress of students in Australia by delivering learning experiences that can be enjoyed by all."
The company reports that DoodleLearning apps are already used worldwide and aim to support both parents and teachers, offering tools intended to encourage enjoyment, confidence, and progress in learning. The company notes the focus on adaptive and interactive technology as part of its strategy to provide each child with a personalised educational experience.
DoodleLearning products are part of Discovery Education's broader suite of digital education and professional learning resources. The company serves educators and schools globally, stating that its resources are used in over 100 countries and territories.
