Samsung has launched the Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G in Australia, expanding its mid-range Galaxy A series in the local market.
The phones go on sale across Australia at AUD $749 for the 128GB Galaxy A57 5G and AUD $849 for the 256GB model. The Galaxy A37 5G is priced at AUD $599 for 128GB. The A57 is available in Awesome Navy and Awesome Lilac, while the A37 comes in Awesome Lavender and Awesome Charcoal.
The launch adds two new models to one of Samsung's most important smartphone ranges. Sitting below the flagship Galaxy S line, the Galaxy A series targets buyers seeking lower prices and a broad feature set. In Australia, the mid-range segment remains highly competitive as handset makers pursue customers who want longer software support and stronger cameras without moving into premium price bands.
Both phones feature upgraded performance and camera hardware, improved low-light photography under Samsung's Nightography branding, a revised design, improved durability and what Samsung calls Awesome Intelligence artificial intelligence features.
Nathan Rigger, Head of Product, Mobile eXperience at Samsung Electronics Australia, outlined the company's pitch for the devices.
"Samsung's newest Galaxy A series delivers quality and value without compromise. We've continued to improve and upgrade our mid-tier phone range with the launch of Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G, providing Australians with the features that matter most, including even longer battery life, faster camera capabilities, and enriched AI innovations," said Rigger.
Software support is also a central part of the offering. The Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G will receive up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, along with six years of security updates.
That commitment places the two devices among the longer-supported options in the Android mid-range category, where update periods have become a more visible point of comparison for buyers weighing a handset's total lifespan against its upfront cost.
Rigger also highlighted longevity as a key part of the proposition.
"With up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates, Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G offer the quality, longevity and features Australians need, at an accessible price point," said Rigger.
Retail Offers
Samsung is also rolling out a range of channel-specific retail discounts for the launch. Telstra is offering savings on both phones for customers who buy outright or on eligible plans, while Vodafone/TPG is advertising the Galaxy A57 for AUD $10 a month over 36 months on an eligible plan.
In open-channel retail, buyers of the Galaxy A57 can receive AUD $150 off, while buyers of the Galaxy A37 can receive AUD $100 off. Through Samsung's online store, discounts vary by model and storage size, including lower prices on both A57 variants and the A37.
Samsung Experience Stores are also offering launch discounts, with the same AUD $150 reduction on the Galaxy A57 and AUD $100 off the Galaxy A37. The broad spread of promotions suggests Samsung is using wide retail coverage to support the launch as competition intensifies across operator and direct sales channels.
Mid-Range Focus
The Galaxy A series has long been a high-volume part of Samsung's smartphone portfolio, giving the company a route into price-sensitive segments while maintaining brand presence across carriers, electronics chains and direct sales. New releases in this category are watched closely because they often influence share gains in the broader Android market more than premium handsets do.
For Australian consumers, pricing below AUD $850 keeps both devices in a part of the market where demand has remained resilient despite pressure on household spending. Brands in this segment have increasingly emphasised battery life, camera performance, durability and software support as differentiators rather than relying only on raw hardware specifications.
Samsung's local launch message for the Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G reflects that broader shift, placing equal weight on imaging, battery life, artificial intelligence features and update commitments alongside price. The Galaxy A57 5G starts at AUD $749, while the Galaxy A37 5G starts at AUD $599.
